Great day was had by all. 14 windsurfers on the water. Winds weren't as strong as Port Philip Bay but the Inlet was flat as a tack. Most guys where running 6 - 7 mtr sails. Great to see Hardie and Kato out and having fun. Ej had a new 6.5 Ezzy to show off and had a tiny grin on his face so he must have been rapt. Jman had a new Van to show off - smicko. I had a new mast and 7.5 mtr Tush T3 to show off and had a ball. First decent sess with it and got to within 2kts of my PB. The class act was Crowie who showed off his new 133 ltr Starboard. As he jumped on it for the first time Emerson Lake and Palmer jumped up and played Fanfare for the Common Man as he rode off into the horizon. Shame about the paint job Crowie - you would think they would cover up those black streaks Mick found some rocks and broke his harness line. Then picked on the fact that the spares ones I gave him where too short
BBQ was christened. Hardie convinced us to start up a GPS team. He needs another team to hold up the ladder! So guys we need to come up with a flashly name and convince Ej to be our team Captain.
All in all a damn good day. The only thing that was missing was Pedro's muffins

Old Salty,
Thanks for the description of my complaining.
After thinking about it more I wonder if the harness line was'nt a set up....did you deliberately build that rock groyne/ reef just for laughs??

I concluded that your harness lines were made for midgets as whenever I hooked in my nose was touching the boom!
Getting in the lines would have really put our sport into good light, and shown newbies just what it is all about, as I swear from the shore in might have looked like I was having relations with my boom (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Doug pretended to go for another sail after everyone had packed up only to return ten minutes later complaining the wind had died - I suspect he was quietly removing that lump of concrete that he planted earlier in the day just for you and your fin Mick.

The look of disappointment on Doug's face when I came in with the new board (more or less) undamaged was priceless. ''Never mind mate, it's repairable, bit of sandpaper and some putty will sort it out luvverly'' was what he wanted to say. Instead, he had to settle for putting another snag on the barbie. Having said that, I'm a little surprised that it did come in undamaged given the comedy tumbles that were the signature maneouvere of my day...its what happens when you drop a kid into the mixture - screws your water time up!! Babysitter...anyone?...anyone? And EJ - I could've sworn I saw Doug walking towards your shiny new Ezzy with some hot BBQ tongues - just a small nick near the clew...

UPDATE....problem with the harness lines sorted
Went down to SHQ to pick up new lines.......had one of those deja vue moments because when I came to I may have walked out with a new 490 mast, boom, mastbase and NP V8 8.0.
Why does this keep happening?????

It is unfair to call something a psychological pattern of behaviour when obviously it is 2 random and seperate events...
The fin happened to come with a board (clearly not my fault).
Likewise your midget harness lines forced me to buy another set which just happened to come with a built in sail...(once again, how is that possibly my fault).

PS How many curtains can you get for the price of a sail?????

I found the answer to this question out last night when the missus found out that I'd also mistakenly bought a NP 6.9 Excess when I popped into SHQ on Saturday for a 15 buck downhall tool. The answer is a stern look followed by something about a fortnight's school fees and then an obscure expletive ridden comment about blinds for the french doors...or as I later found about half the value of the blinds for the french doors - which was almost enough to make me go and buy another sail this weekend out of spite! Well done Mick - keep the Brotherhood strong.

Now going back one step before we address Drift's addicition.
Firstly as president I thought you guys would respect me and not go faster, not have newer equipment and generally not slag me at every opportunity. So to keep up with you lot, I confess that I did get to Inverloch early and put that rock groyne in for Mick and not have my ritual coffee and sausage roll at the Bakery. I did take the BBQ tongs to Evan's new Ezzy freeride because I had a new Tush T3 and mast to show off. And Crowie have you checked the rope marks on the new fin that I tied the bricks to.
Giving up on you 3 and I will start to work on Kieran, Richard and Ash.

Now Drift's addiction. First thing is to join a group of people with the same issue. Like a self help group. Get together in a circle and tell everyone your name, confess to your addiction and tell everyone that you are a lost cause and need saving. After that show everyone the new purchases and seek their opinions (as they are silently tempted themselves ) and seek their forgiveness. Once they have absolved you from your sins you can then you can go out and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

I reckon Eliot windsurfed and constantly ended up with Mick at SHQ...

ahh, yes, so sorry about the lack of muffins and me. I actually specially baked a lovely batch of apple/cinnamon muffins the night before and had them all packed ready to go. Alas, after dropping guests off at the airport quite early on Sunday, guests who had been with us for the last week and a half, which had involved too many late nights and more than normal lubrication, plus normal hectic wage slavery during the day, I massively disappointed myself by deciding that I really needed a day on the couch with a book! Which I did. Ok, ok, I promise to dash up to Dan Murphys at the first available opportunity to purchase a slab of HTFU.

I am spewing at not sailing as it sounded like heaps of fun at Inverloch and on the bay, but there will always be another day.....

On a brighter note I have next Monday off and a leave pass from the minister of finance and leisure for whenever the wind blows over the long weekend!! Some buttering up with fine chocolates and her favourite silly mag has helped!

Hey Croweman - 'Little Gidding' from the Four Quartets - nice quote - I used to have it hanging on a wall somewhere. Whoever said fans of extreme(ish) sports couldn't also be a little bit culturally-learned? Cheers, Scott.

Sorry Old Salty but you must have paraphrased our club's constitution. I think you might have put the word "NOT' in the wrong spot....but don't worry, I fixed it for you.
It should read
"As president, I thought you guys would NOT respect me, and go faster, have newer equipment and slag me at every opportunity..."
