A general heads up for for those of us using the beaches from Carrum to Frankston. As if the threat of sharks and giant jellies isn't enough, I almost stood on a 1m to 1.5m Brown snake on the side of the path going to seaford beach on sunday and he wasn't happy. Went for a swim with a couple of Jellies then on my way back decided to take the next path up and there he was again (they look much bigger in the flesh). Apparently there are a few around and this one didn't seem to scared of me so just keep an cautionary eye out if you're down that way.

was windsurfing this afternoon at dawson st, and as i went to do a jibe i see this thing swiming in the water right near me, i thought it was a shark at first, then it popped its head up out of the water and looked at me and said '' hi '' it was a seal. i did not know they came in to elwood beach, dont like em swimming around there cause the little guys attrack sharks

I think we might just have to make a pact to 'Harden the F*ck up'. Sharks, snakes, jellies, seals, whatever. I guess we can acknowledge that they are around but not let them stop us from doing the things we are passionate about, otherwise we may as well just stay at home, sit on the couch and get fat & grumpy ! Bear Grylles wouldn't let a little thing like a man eating shark stop him from being a D*ckhead !!

Quite a few years ago I was out the back at Ricketts water starting in a cold, squally day. I didn't hear the Cello but had this weird sensation that something was there. I looked over my shoulder and staring straight at me about 1 meter away is a fairy penguin. I nearly had an friggin heart attack.
Those things are potentially lethal to old farts like me!!!

..................and then there's those incredibly ferocious fluffy kittens ! Get on the wrong side of them and they'll piss all over your shoes !

Seen 'em on dawn sessions at Green Point - couple of meters off the beach. Not worried about having seals around at all - scuba diving down in Tassie, it's time to get worried when the seals AREN'T there...

That's pretty cool though Flipper - not many people get to say they've been sailing with a seal.

Mikey, It was more about the state of my ticker and it,s inability to cope with such excitement.
He may have been one of those Jihad Penguins though!!!

What a great sport to see the wildlife of Australia! PS Did I tell you about the time an eastern grey roo boxed me off my board? Lucky I had the Gath on. And there was that other time I stood on an Echidna stuck in my footstrap - geez I nearly shat myself.

In all seriousness, a crab did nip me on the toe a few weeks ago.

And a bloke I know copped a stingray barb in the foot a while back. Since he's well hard, he left it to fester for weeks until it burst back out with a stream of puss.
