If you see one, do you tell people?

I'd rather not know unless it was

a) big

and

b) less than five minutes ago

but other people are different....

Yesterday I did the following:
1) Dropped a load into my wetsuit as it was about 100 metres from me
2) Sailed straight in
3) Told the sailor on the beach and tried to get the other two in!
4) Walked across the dunes and sailed for 15 mins in the inlet
5) Went home

I have no idea how big the one i saw was as I didn't really hang around looking. It was as big or bigger than a dolphin with a very un dolphin shaped fin and in my book that means home time!

Warn all other windsurfers and swimmers immediately.

If kiteboarders present just leave the water quietly, sit on the beach and enjoy!

I'm going to forget I just read this. We don't talk about this!

Arghh... I take it you're talking Sandy Point??? Sheesh... I was out off the lifesaving club and rigged too small so spent half my time getting pounded in the white wash... and now you're telling me there was a noah out there?

BTW: did some SUP'ing on Sat and Sun, and I must say you see an awful lot of big dark shapes when you're out there and peering down into the water... that all turn out to be absolutely nothing.

Crap! Perhaps my first and last watershoot at SP :/

Good idea. A shark would never think of looking for lunch in the inlet.

its the ones you dont see you gotta worry about.

haha you would be pretty safe where you were Jodie.. a shark would have to have legs to get you on that sandbar!!

I have had 3 good run ins with sharks sailing...
had a solid sized fin pop up in front of me at Sandy pt, had a BIG tiger shark circle 3 of us on SUP's at Kanaha in Maui and the best one was at Hookipa where I was planing along full speed when a fin popped up about 3m in front of me... I couldnt avoid it and ended up hitting right in the back! was a pretty solid sized tigershark.. The shark shi# it self as much as I did and thrashed it's tail around on the surface and took off... that was as close as I want to come to one of those again. I didn't even get any cool marks on my board :(

check this one out from a few weeks ago... I was fishing off Bermagui and i started filming a baitball with all these seals feeding. Just stuck my GoPro on a pole and stuck it underwater... checking the footage later - there was about a 4.5m White pointer under the school!!!

This Mako was caught 2 dys ago 3km from San Remo

'Game' Fishing. Not much of a game when the shark is dead. Pity.

Jodie, do you know where that mako was caught relative to San Remo?

Was it back in Western Port bay, or out past Cape Woolamai on the Bass Straight side?
