or is sandy good in a northerly for wave sailing?

Catch the ferry to Queenscliff, sail Swan Bay. We launch from QLYC off King St. Booties a must, weed fins optional but nice.

Rye was fantastic. A summer northerly *never* works down there, expect for this last Sat! Blew 20-25 knots most of tnhe moring at least. Here's a google maps approximation of the 10.5km single tack run myself and mate did - well outside the 500m no boating zone too! Very impressed with the models by the way - the BoM model ( www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml?location=vic-mel&tz=AEDT ) had 20 knots on the Rosebud side of Rye, and 25 knots Sorrento side, and thats pretty much EXACTLY what we found when we did the long cross-winder....

Windjunky, I'm colour blind (red green) along with 7-10% of the male population. We're probably not a huge priority given that we can't hold a pilot's license, merchant navy medical etc etc but we do windsurf :)

One (of many) great thing about bay winds is that you don't rely on colours to be able to ready the wind strengths, unlike the shaded BOM charts like the one you referenced.

Is there any chance the Bureau might consider some mouse-over type hints as to the numeric values being alluded to? Same problem with the Primary swell graph on the maps and charts page.

Cheers

Jon
