I just noticed Google Earth has upldated its Victorian coastal maps.

I chucked together an overlay of the Inverloch 2006 satellite image with a 2010 image.
You can definately see a shift in the sand.

not really any great amount. but the DEPTH of water seems to be the big variable.
Hmmm.. 50 meters off the Venus Bay peninsular in 2008.

That is amazing stuff Mick, just watching what has happened to Point Smythe and the cleaning up of a lot of runs around 45. Shows that run that Kato has been sniffing out also.

Picking up on Oldie's point...whilst we might think there is more sand around the Angling Club up towards the boat ramp, the reality may prove otherwise.
Its very interesting to see the beach near the yacht club totally dissapear, and the outer channel form and start to die.
45 looks pretty stable though, even though it gets a mass movement of water every day.

The most dramatic change is the recent development of a steep bank on the "central" channel at the mouth.
Might be an interesting outgoing run for speedies in a 30 knot nor wester?
Can run within a few centimeters of the bank and a 7 knot current might help to set local 2 second record?
