Hi guys

I ripped a hole in my sail a couple of weeks ago and was hoping to get some advice on the cheapest way to fix it.

It's not that surprising that it ripped as it was a pretty windy day and the sail is a couple of years old now, but I'm too poor to buy a new one.

Obviously I could take it to RPS or something but I'm guess that it would be expensive and I was hoping there might be a cheaper option?

here are some pics

Thanks

Hey there.

Sorry to hear about your sail.

Looking at the photo of your sail, my immediate reply would be go and get it properly repaired. Simply because the damage extends through to the batten pocket/seam which is load bearing and even with the strongest of repair tapes, would get worse if used........But, we do have rolls of ding repair tape which is stronger than normal mono repair tape and if you rinse and completely dry the sail, the magic repair tape may hold for a few sessions. For 12 bucks, it's maybe worth a shot. Especially because the next 5 days looks pretty promising for wind!

I'd go see this bloke:

Meester Sails

959 Glenhuntly Rd, Caulfield South, VIC 3162

East VIC, Southern Melbourne

p: (03) 95718677

He is excellent and very cheap. Just take it there and he will give you a quote. Have used him many times and always happy with repairs. That repair looks like no more than $50 or $60 worth...

Thanks for the advice guys.

I ended up seeing Jamie, (Meester sails), now working at Thomson sails in Sandringham

He did a good job, very affordable too.

Now we just need some wind for a test run...
