12 months have gone quickly and it is on again.
Inverloch Windsurfing Club is proud to announce the running of the 2nd annual RPS Longboard challenge to be held at The Angling Club at Anderson Inlet Inverloch 10 am Saturday the 19th March.
A day of fun, laughs and more laughs as we watch teams go head to head in matching skills against each other. Dust off those heavy long beasts and relive your teens. Emphasis will be on friends and family involvement
In the morning there will be a Come and Try Seesion with Tips and Tricks and a BBQ set up for lunch
Teams are to be a minimum of three people. The teams do have to have a minimum of one board that is over 3 mtrs in length.(I have seen a few short boards with apendages added)
There will be 20 activities and a team have to choose 5 to do in a 2 hour time frame. Each activity is awarded points and the team with the highest points at the end of 2 hours win the right to hold the covetted trophy for 12 months.

If you do not have a team register anyway and we will put you in one on the day.
Teams are encouraged to sledge and judges are encouraging bribery
I know our proud sponsors RPS are putting together their Dream Team but from what I have seen their grandmothers dressed in neck to knees and gloshes would spank them on the day

Im keen - can I just join a team please.. I willing to bring some Tang and lollie gooble bliss bombs to bribe my way in!

I've heard that the claims that Wooz from RPS is over in Japan on a snowboard trip are untrue...I put this to RPS and they refused to comment.
My sources have spotted him in the Himilayas doing a two week intensive high altitude training camp so he is buffed and ready to rumble at the Longboard Day.

Getting back on topic.

As official judge for this weekend's Longboard Challenge I just want to put on the table the issue of bribes and match fixing.
I have been approached buy several teams who are intent on seeing if they can buy their way into the record books.
Rather than address the culprits individually, I though a public forum such as this would be far more effective:

1) George, thanks for the offer but what am I going to do with your first born?
2) Warrick, while the offer to sleep with every person on the RPS staff is a good one, a bribe is normally something that is not easy obtained!
3) Red, when I said hookers, I didn't mean rugby players!

It seems that there may be a bit of miscommunication in relation to bribes...mainly that the current ones are p1ssw3ak and lack true material worth!.

Subsequently, I've created a bribe registry, just to make it easier.
Simply print the registry out and cross of an item on the list below. That way you'll avoid the embarassing situation of offering the same illegal transaction, and we all know how bad that can be!

Choose from the following items:

DRIFT'S BRIBE REGISTRY (TICK ITEM YOU'D LIKE TO OFFER AS A BRIBE)
1) Property- Waterfront home overlooking Anderson Inlet, direct beach access, fully furnished.....

Apparently, Adrian [ RPS Team member #2] went training this evening in the 15-20 kt seabreeze.

Me?? I'll start cramming my training from Fri arvo.

I've dusted off the longboard ready for Saturday. Now all I need is a "Caution Long Load Ahead" sign for the trip up on the car and maybe a gps navigator so that I don't get lost venturing from the front of the board to the back.

OK, so my plan to recruit the IWC dream team for Saturday isn't exactly going to plan, but I'm still hopeful to get these guys to turn up for maximum points in the board length challenge.

All committee members have not worked with ASP and deny any association with them..... Isn't that right fellas

Right - definitely no dealings with the ASP.

But I have done lots of work with the IOC and FIFA. They're legit & credible organisations aren't they???

If the bribes don't improve, I am seriously thinking of following Bernie Eccleston and the Formula Ones and moving this event to the sub continent...at least there bent officials can make a decent living out of being on the take...

My manager - Ricky Nixon - has advised me to say
"That I completely refute any allegations suggesting that I have taken any illegal or banned substances and that the recent pregnancy test that I did was NOT positive"

Can't wait. I'll be there first thing tommorow morning for a warm up session and set up ready for the BIG ONE.

Thanks to everyone that attended and got into the spirit!
A big thanks to the organisers- Marcus, Dan, Simon, Rob, Pete and RPS for copping some dubious decisions and taking it in their stride!

Highlights for me:
1) Seeing Red and Kato trying to wrestle control of their 8 metre "One Design Maxi" as they barrelled over to the sandbar with 6 kids on board. Both pilots were giggling like school kids!
2) Dan and Adrian's ingenious use of an Aqua pak to cart their beverage in the latte challenge. Special mention has to go to Pete for taking on the latte challenge against the wind and tide and still managing to make it back!
3) Paul's 3 y/o Summer absolutely peaking at winning the Biggest Feather!

on behalf of RPS, I've got to say that is hands down, the most sailing fun the boys and I have had for ages.
Why?? Because we all had loads of fun, no-one took themselves too seriously and it illustrated that you can actually do alot, lot more on a longboard than you can on a shortboard in flatwater with 12-15 knots!!

Great organisation from your end, which made the dubious decisions far easier to stomach. Simon was a star on both the Windrush Clubman as well as the BBQ!

Let's do it again!!
