Swell looks good, wind looks fresh (might not be right direction) we will have to see. So how about this for a plan:

Hit Leo or another local beach at 4pm and bust some moves. Who is up for it?
Flacka: get Stu to come and he could push me over the handle bars!

Ok Flacka, What is the plan! I need day, time, who is going etc. 8 Ft might be a little large for an old guy like me, who is average at best...

What day? I think I can be talked into it. Worst that can happen let me think: broken bones, drowning, death etc. Or even worse trashed kit..... but if Shark bait is going I am in......

possos is not a very heavy wave so if you've got your x-combat skinnys i think youll be sweet. just check the tides, don't launch off the rocks on a high tide. walk up along the sand dunes and launch from the beach upwind.

i wouldnt put too much weight behind that forecast, its only calling 1.5m swell! swellnet has 8ft which means massive. bom has w-sw so i think possos will be the go. pt leo will be tiny in comparison!

WHat about Flinders! That will be bigger.... I will touchbase with Flacka and if it looks good I am in (I can always bring the videocam if it looks to big). Come on Al you have seen me sail and 8ft might just kill me.
I could always do the Flacka approach to wave sailing and just sail out the back all day

cmon tom, htfu! it'll be awesome, if my waveboard wasnt in tassie i'd probably be going. you can just sail around the shoulder until you muster up a bit of confidence!

btw when swellnet says 8ft it is more like 12 in 'actual' feet rather than surf talk...[}:)][}:)]

So did you get out down at possos Steve??
It didnt go NW 'till very late yesterday arvo and from the guys I spoke to down the coast that big swell didnt hit till really late too

Anyone get out?
I was pretty maxed on a 4.2 at rickets.. would have been a handfull going down the line with that much wind

Al I guess you have broken all your gear by now at BOL

Not Steve, but I thought I could cut-in...

Went out in possibly the most extreme conditions I've sailed in yesterday! The wind was gusting all over the place and caused a few flips simply from wind under the board. The swell and shorebreak here was nasty and you couldn't stand in a metre of water due to the side current...but besides all that...IT WAS AWESOME!

Sorry, just had to share. My mate didn't have as much luck, putting his head straight through a panel on his newish 'Zone'.

nah joel, bol didnt really happen. spewing!! it took ages to swing so it was a real mess... ended up doing a suicide mission at greens. raining, cross shore, 20-40 knots, well over mast high and breaking over a kilometre out... took a 4.7 to get out the back, got catapulted in a massive gust and harness buckle came undone. had to sail back in without being able to hook in!! crazy stuff.

Dude greens is so hard to get out when its that gusty and there is big swell!
you must have done bloody well just to get out
Glad I didnt take a day off work for that then!

So your back now? you keen for a sail at sandy pt on a SE? should be enough wind and small swell

Sorry, no - sailed in Portland (don't get the opportunity to get away much!) Starting to plan hols around w/surfing so hope to get to some good spots in the next few years. Can't complain when we live on a cape with the option to sail almost any wind...the prob is that the wind isn't here nearly enough, and when it is...it goes a bit nuts!

Oh well you have best of both worlds there, when there is wind sail and when there is no wind chase the bluefin around!!
Might do that next weekend actually if there is no wind - sounds like the tuna are going off!!
Do you know Duncan Banks? he was living down there for a while.. sails KA
