Didn't catch the name of the guy who gave me some pointers yesterday at Lysterfield - runs a backpackers nearby - cheers for the advice. Shouldn've listened when I got blown downwind and ended up walking back through the reedbeds...sure you've all been there.

David - phone died this morning and lost your number. Give us a buzz.

Hi Croweman,

What direction was it blowing yesterday? I was under the impression Lysterfield only really worked on a northerly. Or does it work ok on a southerly also?

I'm not too far (1/2 hour drive) from Lysterfield though only ever sailed there a few times on a northerly, which has been a bit hit and miss.

It was all over the place - but light enough for me to get out and have an hour's worth of novice time - so it didn't make much difference. Generally blowing left to right.

I have been there the last 2 Sundays (and meet croweman there!), when it was about 25knt on a southerly at the bay. Unfortunately it doesn’t work at all! The wind is really irregular (in direction and force - some times even drop off totally!).
So for everyone more than a beginner I don’t recommend it on a southerly.
However it’s a great place to learn up hauling (or, like me, to gain confidence on your new board :-) ). There is also a nice grass to rig on.
I will check the place on the next big Northerly… will let you know!

Ejmack: I like your board!! (yes I bought it a few week ago…)
