Me and my mate kitesurfed suicide reef at point Leo yesterday evening. As we where walking down to the beach a windsurfer tried to tell us that we shouldn't be kitesurfing out there because it gets too buisy and tried to tell us we should go to second reef. There was no swell gutting second reef and there was only 1 windsurfer on the water at suicide reef. I don't want to start any fights or arguments but I've been kireing waves all round the world for years and I be never been told I can't kite somewhere and I never get in anyone's way and always have a lot of respect for locals and their spots but things like that just piss me off big time!!!!

Yeah - well we can all share the water. There's enough room for everyone as long as everyone is considerate. I think there are inconsiderate kiters, windsurfers and surfers. What you should do about this is be accommodating to the next windsurfer who wants to sail where you normally get out. In with bad vibes out with good.

I was a windsurfer and instructor for years so I understand that windsurfers don't have the ability to turn around fast and pick up speed as quick as kiters. I will be kiteing point Leo again and I will kite which ever part I want regardless of what anyone says to me. I will always have respect and allow everyone there fair share of waves [:)

*Jman
*Bloody good - not very modest.
*Dying? Irrelevant trolling. Does it matter if you're the last person performing a sport on the planet if you enjoy it? Kitesurfing is hardly growing. Let's see how popular kiting is when it's in its fourth decade.
*Sport
*No full stop between the and times

Perhaps 3am is not a good time to post on the forum?

I still think that you should be able to kite at the beach providing you respect other water users. Kites definitely have an advantage on the inside if the wind is light because they can get above it and lift the rider out of the crap. They should probably give way to a windsurfer struggling off the plane in this situation (and to be fair they usually do).

I didnt have an attitude till i got told i couldnt have been good at windsurfing and getting told to kite somewhere else its bollocks no 1 owns the waves or spots and considering there's only a handfull of kiters and windsurfers that actually ride waves regularly i don't see the problem!!

Hey Simon....I'm surprised that you were told such things. I know most of the guys that wavesail down there and they are a good bunch of blokes that are very accommodating. Sound like you bumped into a feral. I dont mind a kiter out there .....better to sail and share than sail alone. Jerry you are a bad bad Jman.
