Didn't quite get in today, but was still fun to get your hair wet (full of poop). We had a Photographer (Joel) down there who took some shots, hopefully get them up soon!!

The King is dead, long live the King !
Saturday late afternoon after the Sternchaser at Elwood sailing Club we finally got some "good" conditions to run "King of The Bay". 25-35 knots s-sw with plenty of bay swell for some good jumping.
We only had to deal with a few small problems, torrential horizontal rain and poo pipe dumping 2 month's of St Kilda's **** in the Bay ! Quite a few sailors had already gone home to shelter from the atrocious conditions but most made it back to the water for this late night showdown.
All competitors put in a great effort in the difficult conditions, the debris (leaves, sticks, car tires etc) from poo pipe was severe enough to slow most of the riders to walking pace but every now and then someone got a clear run to show some talent !
Irish Paul was the first one out and already got some massive jumps before the comp was officially started. Jan, Tim, Tony and Duncan also managed to get some good jumps in early. Alex who only just mastered forwards was trying some wild stalled forwards. Zac seemed to be struggling most with the conditions but still managed to land some forwards from what looked like a almost non planing situation!
Andy Ackland ended up 3rd overall with the best display of moves from forwards to clean back loops and some solid wave rides.
Joel Ryan came 2nd and was on fire but was slowed down by his quad fin collecting plastic bags and ladies sanitary products. He still managed to win a Severne Gorilla mast for the biggest jump (stalled forward) and pulled off some wild back loops.
Steve "Flacky" Flack walked away as the new King of The Bay with plenty of stalled over rotated forwards attempts. (yes not quite "double" attempts) unfortunately he also tried some metrosexual freestyle moves which almost got him disqualified.
Congratulations to the winners and we are keen to c what you guys can do when the conditions are really firing ! Don't miss this event next season as each winner will get his name engraved in the awesome King Lionheart helmet!
A big thanks to the Elwood Sailboarders for their help and hospitality to make this happen and to Jodi from White Caps Photography to risk her health and equipment to shoot in these conditions !
The new King for 2013 ! Who's going to take it off him ?
My precious !
