Just been scoping out wave riding options. I love the great waves and rockless beaches of Sandy Point but it is a long drive.

Anyone sailed Kilcunda? What's the rock/reef situation?

Looks like the perfect direction for those strong easterlies.





Based on 'Whereis' it should take me just over an hour from Mornington.

SE and SW yes,but not for E as the cliffs disturb the wind too much. Never sailed it but surfed it a lot. A few rocks but mostly sand with strong rips and solid waves. Take a friend for safety as the waves are stronger than they look. Inverloch at the entrance is a bit better for an easterly. There is another spot,rocky and will work with a good swell and an easterly. Pm me for this one. Sailed it once

Bah damn cliffs. Guess I'm just looking for closer options that are fairly rock free. I'm kind of jaded after whacking my fin on a reef at Point Leo, that was just a matter of time.

great surfing on a mid to low tide + NE wind. The beach along this stretch is quite steep, on a higher tides you get a lot of bumpy backwash. As kato said the cliffs and dunes would mess the wind up on an easterly.
Scored my first ever full cover up at this beach.

great wind along there Leman. the wind there is even better than inverloch.. As the wind whips across there from the bass straight you can often feel it hit your car on the way to inverloch.. alot of guys surf along there, i have never see any windsurfers but looks like a great place to wave sail..
