Meeting 11am at South Gippsland Yacht Club - LOCATION TO BE CONFIRMED by Saturday lunchtime however wind direction is suggesting Poo Shooters will be the best run

Approved GPS Devices per GPS Team Challenge. Other devices will be entered as unofficial

This event will run on a Red Light Green Light system and details will be posted here as well as the Club fb page

Getting excited ????. The course has been groomed over the last few days and should be silky smooth. ??

Two green lights. The club has had discussions with the President of South Gippsland Yacht Club Rob McNair who has allowed us to set up and launch from the beach in front of the Yacht Club. This is fantastic as it will allow us direct access to the Poo Shooters run. The Yacht Club is running their own races and we ask all to respect the Yacht Club members and allow them full access to their Club and facilities. Start time 10 am at South Gippsland Yacht Club 22 The Esplanade Inverloch

Doug, is 10am set in concrete for the start time? Meteye is showing a fair bit of north in it early, swinging more south by mid afternoon. Not trying to be negative, at least the IWC are putting in a great effort to keep the sport alive in Vic, just that it would be more fun to be racing in the best conditions. Just putting it out there so to speak.

Evan, 10 am is the briefing/ arrival time. It won't run until the conditions are good. We might even get a few races in

What about Area 45? Less worry about the wind direction then for a 10am start?

Awesome day. Storm cell hit just as we began the race. Made the 30 min race very interesting. And the winner was....

All I can say is that windsurfers are a mad lot. The alpha males came out to play yesterday and if the banter that is now happening on GPS Team Challenge website is any indication I think everyone enjoyed themselves. The conditions where abysmal. Between 10 - 12am sat under the verandah of the Sth Gippy Yacht Club waiting for the showers to pass. Got notice around midday that the Westerly change had hit Phillip Island so we were off to Area 45 for a play. Wind on arrival was light so everyone was rigging bid. The wind started building and by 1pm everyone had gone small with a monster front coming through. Average wind speed around 20 kts with bullets of 30 kts when everyone was one the water. Flattened a lot of the 10 sailors competing but everyone was a winner for surviving the conditions especially some of less experienced club members. Some unique sailing techniques where developed to cope with the driving rain and hail as visors, sunnies fogged up. Club President - Dan Poynton was showcasing the arm in front of the face technique which was interesting as he was entering his gybes. All this was a great spectacle to watch from the warmth of Postie Pete 's car. I did get wet though putting the flags in and out. When that Red flag went up for the end of the race I have never seen a more happy bunch of sailors coming off the water

Was a great day considering the extreme changes in the weather! Well organised and run event by the IWC. Besides never feeling so cold in summer and wishing I had packed my 4/3 wetsuit I had a great time. Cant wait for the next one!

Well done everyone. The conditions made it a tough day on the water. Sad we could not get a couple more happening on the day but the lightning strikes put an end to it.
