While yesterday was a bit of a write off for me, today made up for it in a big way.

We arrived to about 5 - 10 knots so Jacques and I rigged big (7 m) and off we head. Got out to the middle of the bay and we got hammered. Would have been instantly 20 knots +.

So after a bit of a hairy ride back, rigged a 4.5 on some no name slalom board and away I went. Wind gusted up to around 30 knots as the squalls came though and it was awesome!

Have to really thank Red for a loan of the board and sail. Oh and the boom too lol. With out his generosity I wouldnt have had such an epic day. Was also good to sail with all the other guys. Were about 7 or 8 of us out today all having a blast. Lets hope we get a repeat for next weekend!!!!!!!

The board you had was an Extreme world cup slalom circa mid 90's. Made in Torquay and still a great fast board. And as you noticed from the permanent texta on the bottom it was FREE! at a local garage sale!..

Sounds like you guys had a good day yesterday! Sorry I didn't get over that way on Sunday as I was expecting.....missed a great sail by the sounds of things. I had only about an hour of decent sailing on Saturday morning down at Rye.

Fingers crossed this coming weekend produces some good conditions.

Yesterdays conditions were pretty full on so you were doing well. Hopefully next weekend will be pretty much the same - although I wouldnt mind it if its not quite as windy. A consistant 20 knots would be nice.

Best day I have had, since picking up the windsurfer again. Really starting to appreciate how good Point Henry is!
No better feeling than having a strong wind in the sail and flying along while the water is glass underneath.

It was great to have a few people out as well to show me how its meant to be done.
Hope next weekend is as good.

I was there on Sunday just to "watch" and bumped into RED . Thanks Red for the insight into the new gear used these days.
Must say watching you all in those 35knt gusts was very inspiring to get back into it again . I think I will !
Even the minister for Finance and War was encouraging ! which was a surprise to me but anyway who am I to question an approval for sailboard funding

I am a big fella 125 kgs so any thoughts on a good board to get back into it ?
Will keep an eye out for some suitable kit .

Look forward to seeing you all again at the lake or the point or the bay

Cheers all ,

ANT

Ant was good to catch up and have a yap.. It sounds like to me you won't have any trouble getting back into the sport. I'll keep my eyes peeled as well and if I see any gear I'll send you a message.

Cheers
