I am thinking of going to Hawaii at the end of this month. Is this a good time to go sailing there (small waves, mainly free riding). Which island is best for this and can anyone reccommend a suitable place for a family.
Cheers

Hi Mike,
i have sailed over there at this time of the year and if you are looking for a great spot which is family friendly you can't go past Kahlia Bay on the North east coast of Oahu.
Gets a regular seabreeze with beautiful flat water inside the reef and a bit of swell action out the back.
Naish and Hawaiian Watersports run a hire service right on the beach (except on Sundays). Otherwise the Naish factory is only 5 mins up the road.
cheers,
mick

Hi Mike

Im in Maui at the moment been here for about 2 weeks sailed every day since i have been here, heaps of wind biggest sail i've used is 4.7 even managed to score some swell which is rare for this time of year. And not to mention perfect weather boardies well worth the trip. Try and get to maui if you can im staying at sprecks plantation house great accommodation booked through Maui Vacation Advisors you probably pay a little extra but everything is sorted no worries at all.

I always had the impression Maui was where the godlike waves were or is that just a certain area or time of year? The footage that I have seen would have me pooing in my wetsuit.
