Today I sailed torquay in a 22knot SE with about a 3-4 foot SE swell.

I want to know if anyone sailed gunna or flinders?

Torquay had 5 windsurfer and 5 kites out at 11am.

We were sailing from point danger back towards Bowen heads. The wind and waves were directly on shore. So surfing the waves was near impossible. But it was fairly clean with the occasional ramp and wave.

The front beach at torquay was a washing machine of continuous white water. I did not want to go near this.

Was gunna cross shore winds?

Does a SE swell at Gunnamatta wrap around and hit the shore straight on? Therefore making it ideal cross shore wave sailing?

Please help. I'm desperate for some cross shore wave sailing.

i was grounded all weekend but i did watch the flinders cam and it looked pretty ****ty out there. There was a couple of windsurfers and later there were some kiters too. Gunna or wooli looked way cleaner on the cams. The sideshore current looked pretty full on at gunna on the cams. I'm jealous you got to soak your jatz crackers.

Sail within your limits kids, Gunnamatta is a dangerous place and can hard work on a clean day with a surfboard or a SUP.

Yeah you really only want Pt Danger on a SW,
As Retzy said it certainly depends on your level of ability, both Gunna and Wooli are perfect direction on a SE for wave sailing but both are pretty serious beach breaks. I spoke to a few guys on Sat at Wooli who said they just got smashed and I'm not even sure they got out the back?

If you're after an easier sailing spot then you can't beat Sandy Pt on a SE - perfect direction, gentle waves and usually picks up heaps more wind than anywhere else

Last weekend certainly was a weird SE pattern with all the rain and ****ty weather, was pretty unpredictable

I didn't even bother going anywhere.. did any one score somewhere good?

I sailed Balnarring Point absolutely cranking on Saturday avo.

If there had been any swell coming through (sadly it was flat) then I think I would have lost my mind.....

Seems to be something about that sou-easterly howling through the gap between PI and FI.

On a very positive note I put some 16" twin fins in my quad and it is now my favourite board in the world.

Wind was cranking E down here at Inverloch on Saturday - 25-30kts, Sunday we had 15-20 E. Sandy would have been unreal on Saturday. I just stayed close to home and sailed Inverloch.

fully get use to Pt Leo, Flanders(hehe) and cat bay before trying wooli or gunna.

Good tips.
