Given the growing popularity of freestyle windsurfing around Melbourne, I'd like to propose holding a comps/expression session somewhere nice and flat in VIC (possibly inverlock, swan bay or sandy). This could be a good way to promote the discipline and attract a younger crowd to the sport. Also it could be a good way to get some good footage together, improve our skills and get some good sessions happening. Anyone with a few tricks up their sleeves (old school and new) would be welcome including all the team riders from all the shops. I'd just like to get an idea of how many people would be keen, so if respond to this post or email me if you are. Also if anyone wants help me with the organisation let me know. Hey Tim, I think this is a great idea! I've recently returned from a 2.5 year trip overseas, travelling the world and i was fortunate to work for an English company called Club Vass in Egypt, Dahab for about 1.5 years, and the good thing about Dahab, is that it is dead flat, and perfect to train for Freestyle.
I'm currently working and running advanced lessons out of the Zu Boardsports in St.Kilda but i would like to get the ball rolling on this.
If you see me on the water, Riding a Starboard Flare 91 and Severne Freek's, come and say 'Hi' and we can have a chat about it!
Lets get it happening, your never too old to learn freestyle... ive taught 60y.o guys how to forward, downwind 360, backwind gybe etc etc!
Lets get Melbourne into Freestyle because we have perfect conditions for it!
I am 66% to 60 and can only do downwind 3's! Come on Flacka teach me a new trick tomorrow! 2013 the year I learn some new windsurfing skills other than the swim and walk of shame
