Out at Green Point today (Sunday), a nice fellow decided that they no longer needed their board. I am pretty sure boards dont have feelings, but this one might feel lonely. It come from somewhere upwind, possibly Brighton or Elwood, or the sailor decided that the rig was worth more.

If you would like to restore happiness in this part of the universe, maybe you could speak to the helpful chaps in SHQ...

A guy lost his board at GP, seperated from rig, he swam the rig in.
I tried to tow him but man & rig in water was not towing well.
board was a JP i think, someone towed the board back to hampton beach c.300m down from GP, i thought he must've got it back as he was out again later!

I can't remember his name. He works doing weather.

It was a really good day, but did anyone else get burned to %$%#@ out there on sunday?

Person found... and no its not me but is a colleague. Seems his uni separated from the board and a big swim (with some assistance from folks sailing) was required. Said to pass on his thanks to all involved as he suffers from asthma and was a tad concerned when he started running short of breathe but still well out. He'll be ringing SHQ this arvo...

Unusual choice to stay with the rig and not the board?

Some time back I decided to let the board go and save the rig only because the sail, boom and mast were new and the board was worthless.
Probably not he right thing to do but glad it worked out ok for the guy.

Maybe the board went flying off when it detached from the rig.... so he thought fk it.... that's gone... and took what he could back to the beach

Happened to me out the back at Coronation Beach (W.A) once... broke my uni gybing on a big bugger breaking wave, and the board literally surfed away from me and into the distance. The rig floats, so stayed with it. Washed in in the end - down near the windmill for those that know the place.
