Does Flynns Reef work in a North or NW?
Does it get any decent surf?

Might make the journey next weekend if its N-NW and give it a go.
Either I'm making bad calls on where to sail in a N-NW (highly likely)or sailing in Port Phillip Bay is pretty average... a bit over it!
Paying for parking at the beach sucks big time, never had to do that anywhere I've been before.
Time to start doing some weekends away I think!

havent sailed flynns yet but it needs a dead northerly which is cross shore. nw would pretty onshore and kind of pointless seeing there are much better options in that direction.

From my experience it works best on a North and can be sailed with a little bit of west.

Watch out for the rocks on a lower tide and the killer shore break down wind on the high. Bigger on the incoming tide. Launch and come in as close to the rocks as possible. The wind funnels around the headland so you often get overpowered on the wave. Not a bad wave, thick and bowly with a few little sections. If over 4 good/local surfers out forget it or chase them out.

Swell size might be an issue on the weekend but if it gets more west (NW) have a look at Woolamai first. If there are some banks that can handle the swell its good stuff. Will be down so might see you somewhere.

Oh and lock your car up good, $Aus is up = less tourists = more penguins breaking into cars.
