I go to the beach very often and i always see a few windsurfers, it look awsome and alot of fun.

As buying the windsurfing equiptment is expensive i was wonder if anyone is nice enough to let me have a go on theres?

Or do you know of any demo days where they let people try the sport before buying

The beaches i usally goto between mordialloc and morington any spot along there is good for me but i am willing to travel further down to phillip island and maybe even further

Thanks

Hi Gonetobeach,

Please refer to the Windsurfing Victoria website for info on up and coming windsurfing events (inc demo days). Also check out t'he WV Gybe Mark' newsletter. As a member of Windsurfing Victoria (WV) you have access to the teach a mate program and many other things.

www.wv.org.au

Why don't you come down to Elwood beach (Elwood Sailing Club) and meet myself and many other windsurfers. We have a One Hour race starting from 2pm with a BBQ afterwards.

With regards to windsurfing spots in the areas you mentioned, also refer to WV newsletter for highlighted beachs like Bonbeach, Keast Park and Frankston to name few. Also refer to the website;

Or do you know of any demo days where they let people try the sport before buying See above, or get in contact with SHQ or RPS (windsurfing shops).

Thanks

It's great fun, and if you enjoy a challenge, you'll enjoy the learning curb and be mixing it up with those guys you've seen out on the water soon...

I hope I'm not feeding a troll

I see this all the time. People see the kites, but are more familiar with the term Windsurfing.

How many people get this comment?

"Oh you windsurf, have you tried kitesurfing yet?"

Or

"Is that kite thing I see?"

Blah..

My answer - "I was keen to try it until about the 3rd time trying to help newby kiters untangle kit, watch their lines nearly take heads off kids on beach, and after trying to help a couple of guys by carrying their boards back to them watch them get dragged face-first along the sand...not for me thanks"

"I'll take it up if I get a slow weekend. It's really very easy in comparison."

"It's more of a light wind sport."

"It does have more of a visual impact, but so does hot air ballooning and I'm in no hurry to try that."

"I don't have enough tattoos."
