If I found a PT that could devise a windsurfing based circuit training session, would anyone be interested?

One evening a week, somewhere near Brighton?

Obviously everyone would go for beers afterwards

Ginger Pom does that also come with the heart transplant that you need to toughen up... little boxing/glove work or removal of some english ashes.

Best thing is to:-
1. run 3-5 kms 2-3 times a week
2. do some stretches and flexibility work (if have iphone download a yoga regime)
3. swim twice a week 1500m-2kms (mix up with speed work, pool buoy, sprints, long slow swims)
4. get yourself some redcords look at our clinic (best thing to ever resemble sailing) www.physica.com.au/redcord.html do push ups, chin ups, inversion work, great for practising inverted loop positions for psychology... if don't have do to local playground and use monkey bars (but these are fixed and the redocord rely on an unstable base). Very easy to install. People who can do 100 pushups would be lucky to do 10 on redcord, same with chin ups. It is insane!!! Great upper body workout
5. cycling (get out and do some late beach rd rides)
6. if you need someone to yell at you and tell you to toughem up download http://www.coruscant.co.uk/Products/AutoInsult/ (after all it is a UK website)

Hope to see you on water sat mate.... prey for wind :)

If I had the spare time to go circuit training I would just go for a sail.

If its too dark, I would get me a land board and go to the nearest lit up carpark or DFO in Moorabin.

Hey guys, I have been trying to do this on my own small scale.

2 X 2 km swim at St Kilda baths (its warm salt water from the bay) - only a 25m pool which makes it harder - but it does the job.

And just one run on the weekend for 4-5 km....

I am swimming with another mate from work at the moment and the routine is Tuesday and Thursday nights....

Interested in coming along next week?

You don't really need a PT though.... running, swimming, and basic weight training should do all you need....

Thanks for the plug Martin...

Always an interesting debate this one...ginger pom, not sure if i know you but you are on the right track getting someone to help with a specific program if you have some clear goals...there is NO QUESTION that doing some extra strength and core work outside of your comfort zone will improve your sailing and also reduce the chance of injury and also to help recovery after a huge day...sure some cross training will help but a good program of dedicated exercises that mimick windsurfing as closely as possible will see your best results. As always these must be performed with correct posture which is where a good pt will help initially to make sure you are on the right track and not cause any unnecessary injury! Do you remember what scott sanchez from MPG did with Goya and Pritchard...couple of world titles to them both from actual training programs devised for windsurfing...also its well known that Mick Fanning grabbed some big surfing wins with some specific surf training...if you want to have a chat sometime ginger pom come give me a yell at the store... Cheers Bren
