Inverloch Windsurfing Club has been running a winter speed competition for the last 3 years for its GPS Team Challenge team The Southerly Busters. The basic concept about this competition is biggest ratio for 2 sec peak speed to wind strength on the coldest day. So it is not necessarily all about speed but more about strategy. This year the club has decided to be inclusive an open up the competition to other Victorian based GPS Teams - The Ballarat Bastards, The Bono Blasters, Connewarre Cremasters and The Pit Crew to compete. The competition runs from the 1st June through to 31st August.
Full details at inverlochwindsurf.org.au/

You will need to be a Paid Up and Proud IWC member $35 and the competition fee is $25 which covers you for public liability insurance 7 days a week daylight hours only. Your membership fee gives you a personal accident insurance cover of $65000 as well.

BTW - do not forget to put your make up on because last years video on the competition produced by Drift Media went viral in the UK and Europe when two windsurfing mags picked it up

I believe there is a jp speed board for sale at the zu....

Commercial interest declaration: it's mine. Please buy it. I need cash to buy a house.
Ps. It is less expensive than a house.

Wrong sort of equipment for this comp Ginger. A very light longboard might get the best ratio.

What happened to the 40kt before 40 idea???

It was forty knots before I got married... And I got married anyway because it would have been difficult to explain delay to future wife and also to father-in-law

Original list was

Forty knots
Sub four marathon -done
Sub forty ten km on ergo - done
Four loops - not done but got very close on two attempts in January after the kick in the nether regions pledge I made on here

I've given up on speed. I never go to Sandy in a sw or ssw forecast. Maybe I'll come back to it.
