Taking the wife away for her 49ish birthday to Apollo Bay. As she is doing a beach horse ride she has allowed me to pack the gear in. I am not a wave sailor but has anyone got any suggestions on where to sail down that way?

Hey ejmack

because I have painted my nails once or twice no need to rub it in!!
Perhaps we should run a competition on the best dressed windsurfer on the water as my wife keeps on complaining how daggy we all look with strapped on caps and nappies. We could teach those kiters a thing or two

Hahaha.... I take offence to that, I don't wear a nappy!

You're a long way from Pt Fairy (about 2.5 - 3hrs at a guess), it'd be quicker to go to Geelong - Pt Henry if you're wanting flatwater (a bit over an hour). Depending on the swell, from memory the south-end of the bay isn't too bad, especially once you get behind the breakers...weather-permitting (as always).

Besides, you'll have more pressing matters...dirty-weekend away!

Wish it was going to be a dirty weekend but with 20 friends tagging along I am not so sure.
Happy to get out past the breakers and sail in behind but just wondering if anyone has sailed there and what the conditions are like? Better ends to the beach? etc
