Last week the wind predictions for Sunday were all over the place, but by Thursday the predictions for Inverloch seemed pretty much settled - Willy Wind: 27-29kts (BoM was the same for Wonthaggi) - with the exception of Windguru which predicted a max of 16kts.

So was anybody there, if so, what were the winds like?

Who do we believe next time?!

Don't know about Inverloch but wind got up great at sandy. 25+ pretty much all day. Westerly. Couple of guys did 41knts with GPS rest of us trying to play freestyle. Great day worth the trip.

Was watching the pound creek reading on Sunday - seemed to be 20+ W to SW from mid day onwards so I would imagine it would have been ok at Inverloch.

Willy wind and BOM spot on with 25-30knt West at Inverloch surf beach from about 10ish on sunday. Very gusty. 3ft waves.

Wind on the inside was swirling WNW to WSW. Out back heaps nicer. Sailed like crap, but had a great time. Beach and water to myself except for about 10 lifeguards.

I checked out the inlet after lunch, and it was pretty quiet. Too much west. But It should have swung a bit more SW by mid to late arvo.

It seems that Windguru consistently understates the wind strength - not just at Inverloch, but in PP Bay as well.

Have other people found that?

Dropped into the Inlet Sunday morning, only a couple of kiters. Went onto Area 45 and wind was blowing WSW 20 kts gusting to 30. Before lunch speed strip was working with the tide out but when the tide changed slop everywhere. There where about 8 windsurfers on the water.
First run out broke my harness in an "insane catapult"(according to guys on the beach) - glad I gave them some entertainment.. Damn as the water was so smooth compared to the 2ft slop on the way out and I was just thinking how good was this as I was putting my back foot in the strap as the board was accelerating on the plane. Wahoooo, oh crap. Struggled back in to put on my PINK spare only to break that one on the second run out. Kato arrived as I was trying to make one harness out of two and flung me his spare. Thanks Craig - it would have been an early day otherwise!!
Mid afternoon wind had dropped to 15kts gusting to 25kts but I was too stuffed to change up sail sizes and just went for a putt around whilst Darth Vader buzzed me - what's that he is doing a walk of shame. Shhhhh do not tell anyone.
Few guys got 30s on their gps.
Still enjoyed myself despite the breakages

i should of went to inverloch Darth vader was there a? you know that helmet gives him a extra 5 knots of wind speed

Whats area 45?? have not heard that one before old salty

We had about 20 + guys at Ricketts again on the point. The water was as flat as a lake wich is rare for port phillip bay, so alot of guys were practising there flat water free ride tricks.

Sflack was giving free lessons on how to do the helitack wich was great

A good fun blast in the arvo chasing the Invy crew around. Only had the choice of 2 sails 6.6 or 5.0 so sailed with the 6.6 on the CA 40 untill the squall came through and swaped to the 5.0. Had some nice nm runs through the slop untill the wind backed off. The windguru hasn,t got Invy right yet so i use the Pit forcast instead which is similar. Or use all of them and pick the one you like the best

Did Drift throw a hissy when you turned up in pink? Completely ruined his outfit - you must've known it'd clash with lilac. Bitch.

The trouble is that Old Salty is spoiling my 2010-2011 collection where pink was going to be the new lilac........
