Hi everyone. Any advisable location with sunday forecast in mind ?

Is Inverloch any good ?

Sandy Point is about the only place this side of Sale, that will have any wind.

some forecasts are saying ENE 10-20knts early morning, so i'll be heading to RYE area in hope

dioma - not sure what tomorrow's forecast is but was at Sandy Point early this morning. Was blowing around 10-12kts there so headed to Inverloch which was a good 4 kts more gusting to 18 maybe, from the east or there abouts.

On a easterly it's a short run if you sail directly in front of the Angling Club. Plenty of gybing practice however! :) You can also sail further upwind or downwind and get longer runs as some of the guys were doing today.

dam nig, i was home waiting for the wind to blow into the bay i new i should of went to inverloch dam

If you live in melbourne williamstown beach is not a bad place to sail in an easterly. If it is marginal it is not the best place to windsurf a small board, you could end up on the rocks trying to swim in down towards altona.

Had a good sail today in up to 18kts, the angle was great.

If I had time and petrol money i would go to sandy pt - the prom creates a great wind funnel in an easterly, or go to inverloch, have a sail then get a great pie afterward. sweet.

Evan, you should have joined us out there, the wind was a little more consistant and still quite flat

Hate when they do this forecast since morning could mean anything. Ended up dying out about 4am. Still hanging out for the after SE change, may get 15knots.

Let us know what Sandy was like.

I didn't realise that was you Kato! You must have clocked up some distance as you were out there for a while?

Was very tempted to sail further down with you guys but I was enjoying the quick turn around coarse. I think it really helped with my gybes.

Hi Scooby,
For inverloch we normally take the BOM's real time feed from Pound Creek which is a few k's inland.

Apart from Pound Creek BOM I also use www.weather.com.au for Inverloch. Pound creek tends to be a little conservative as it is inland up Anderson Inlet whereas weather.com tends to be more from ocean based forecasting for Inverloch

I find the Bass straight forecast the best for Inverloch. I check it the night before or morning and roughly take off around 5 kts. The Bass Straight forecast hasn't really let me down to date. I also check the Pound creek reading before leaving, but only as a rough guide, direction, etc. The Pound creek reading seems more acurate in easterlies, not so much when the wind is coming from the opposite direction (W-SW) in my experience.
