Monday is looking to have a NE and a southern swell of around 1.8
Could be a good arvo to knock off early and go for a wave sail.

What do people think?

Probably to much 'N' in it, by the looks of what its blowing at the airport.

"Supposed" to go NE later, so interested to see what happens.. not much swell though!

Do you guys ever look at www.wunderground.com/wundermap/ ?

You'll need to keep in mind they're all Personal Weather Stations (PWS) - but the PWS network is pretty good down south.
Most of them are live - not updated every 1/2hr like BOM are.
They're in km/hr just type into google '21 km/hr to knots' and you'll get instant conversion.

Also remember they are mounted on people's roof's, so depending on where they live may not give real good indications on wind speed/direction. Nothing google maps can't confirm (or a drive past) to see where they're mounted.

They're cheap and very easy to setup and forget about.

Yer i've looked at this before and I have driven past the personl one in Lauderdale, which is located in a bit of a dodgy location with trees around it. So not sure how accurate this one is!

Yep - although they're pretty handy, being that they're live...
Unlike BOM that gives you an average over a huge period of time, which in reality, for those of us that want to know NOW - the PWS network is pretty handy.
I just captured this live - it give you a pretty good idea of what the wind is doing for that area, but yea, it's live, so 16's change to 18's in 5 seconds, and 20 NNW, can turn to 25 NE pretty quickly, as that how the wind usually comes through, as we know Knowing the weather patterns and whats coming through, using this map site, is like watching the patterns unfolding.

I wish we had a few on our sailing spots - hopefully I'll get a few more built up here, and can find people with spare space on their tv mast!

EDIT:: I should say, the numbers are TEMP, not windspeed. The Bar's indicate wind speed - so click on the bulb. Pitt Water for example was 20knots, or 38km/hr.

Johnny, Damo has been talking about a weather station on his property for some time we just need to ramp him up. His house is in a good spot as there's not many trees, just needs to be high enough so there's little interference from houses.
Come on Wally come on come on..............we're waiting

Goats no good today, wind northerly and no swell

I am more than willing to put up a 30m tower in my back yard or roof maybe. Will then give perfect record of wind in LAUDERDALE, ANY DIRECTION.
Anyone with the idea for the tower ???
P.s the pine tree in the border is about 20m tall ( would just have to get to the top of it and extend upwards ( or is that submit).
Working bee at the wally house, cmon!!!

An old mast on the top of the tree would be ideal. A 460/490 plus the station would give an extra ~5m!
Who's the monkey in the group who can climb that tree? - I can't work out who's more qualified
Would have to get the station onto the mast before hand though.

Dad says ,Would the tree swaying a little effect the recording? It is a very solid tree of about 1m diameter at the bottom, but obviously moves a bit when windy??

Im keen, just got to figure a way of getting to the top, it is a nasty tangly piece of 'macracarpa' (?_).,
God bless and good night.

Morgan's the man unless those deadly Colliwobbles strike and he falls out of the tree

Dont ask a Colliballs supporter to get up the tree; They find it hard to climb a ladder Certainly cant reach the top rung!
