A few suggestions to fine tune the Windsurfing Tasmania website:
Fos, is there any reason why we have a kitesurfing link on our website, doesn't make sense to me, we should be promoting windsurfing only.
You have a link to Nomadic video on Youtube, can I suggest you change that to nomadic.net.au as this this site is brilliant with heaps of info including a description of most of the sailing spots around Tas.
Damo, what about including boards in your ad, maybe call yourself 'Jay Sails and Boards' or 'Damo's Sails and Boards' (cos everyone knows you as Damo even though you are a Wally) so newbies will know you sell boards, sails and any other sh.t to do with windsurfing.
Perks, the same with your advert, you could place boards into your ad, maybe 'Carrsails and Boards Australia', just as an idea.
Russ, no offence but how about calling yourself Southern Sailboards on this site and Southern Kitesurfing on the kite website.
No offense meant for any kitesurfers they're all great guys but we need to promote windsurfing.

While on topic can we get WT Committe list changed to reflect current Committee members, at the moment it is outdated and mis represented. Lets get the basics sorted before worrying about fuzzy stuff like showing where the sailing spots are etc.

i thought i was the public officer as per daves email or is it a push from the new guys to get rid of us guys that have been around for a while and bring in the new regime i think they call it a coop or is it a misprint.
OK I've asked for those changes, I hope there aren't to many more to come. I did ask for typo checks prior to go live.
Still waiting to hear from the resellers, beside Jay sails, about what they want to see one thier listing on the web site.

I think Fos is the only one that has really got a good handle on this, as he indicated I'm best qualified with my IT skills to run the web site and if I had my own way I'd sack the windsurfing committee for incomptence and insubordination..............got 8 days days to go and counting before I'm back on the water then Buzzy I'll wipe the smile off your face[}:)][}:)]

Hi all, I've had a go at changing the initial wording on the site as some of this still relates to the ways things were quite a while ago, when we had mailing lists etc. Below is my suggested wording and below that is the wording that is currently there. Be good to get this bit right, so other suggestions comments welcome!!

There is a large range of very good quality second hand beginner gear available and it is much easier to learn on than pre-2000 equipment. With the new beginner kits you can be sailing within an hour.
The Seabreeze website is a great place to find out more information (seabreeze.com.au). This site also has a large and up-to-date Buy & Sell listing that provides comparative pricing for different types of equipment. If you have any questions at all regarding the sport, post them to the Windsurfing Tasmania Forum (Forums>Windsurfing>Tasmania or follow this link).
Another very quick way to learn more about the sport is to go to one of the local windsurfing spots and ask local sailors about the sport and how to get involved.

Windsurfing Tasmania Inc. (WT) organises events and functions for windsurfers in Tasmania. WT has recently aligned itself with the Leven Yacht Club in the north and the Sandy Bay Sailing Club in the south to encourage new and current windsurfers to participate in organised racing events. WT has around 40 members and a mailing list of over 100.
WT also holds a series of exciting windsurfing events at different locations around the state each year. Points from this series provide an overall state champion and a Formula Windsurfing and Slalom champion.

Firstly the old stuff someone has from the 70's is not the easiest to learn on. With the new beginner kits you can be sailing inside an hour.

Don't be shy. Post an intro in the forums. We are willing to help get more people into this sport. We even have beginner gear for you to try (provided we have some beginner days).
Just show up to one of the regular spots. Watch and talk to people. Be friendly and we'll return the courtesy.

I reckon we lose the WT logo form the front page as well. It might be a bit out dated and looks a bit too much like kitesurfing. What do you reckon? Small ones on the membership form and calendar don't look so bad, but the big on on the front page is a bit much!!
No I reckon keep the logo, it's grown on me. All the other states have their logo's on their pages. I don't think it looks Kitey at all. I think your new introducing wording is much better Dave, (no offence Fos), it's a little more meaningful for beginners.

I'm going to have to side with Dave on this. The logo should go off the Tas page. I know its been discussed before, but I think its really outdated.
I tried to simplify it a bit and as soon as I got rid of the massive big ring with text I was left with what looked like an 80's wave/slalom board and one design rig(Tiger stripes are so 60's). We do not want that to be representative of our body i.e Old, outdated, fat, baggy, heavy etc.
Time for a logo comp.
