So who is planning on going to Lake George? Any idea when you think you might head over yet or still waiting on water levels & wind?

Steve and I are planning to go. From next weekend onward we'll be keeping an eye on the forecast and if the weather looks good (strong SSE for 2-3 days in a row) then we'll book the Spirit of Tasmania and go over. Apparently it's about a 7hr drive once you get off the ferry in Melbourne. The nearest township is Beachport.

How good is it? I'm guessing it must be pretty special to warrant the trip!

It's a flat water speed strip (lake).
Sounds very tempting, I wonder if the boss would let me take time off

Fair few of us are keen on another trip...

Water level is a fair way off yet, probably won't be worth going until mid-late Feb onwards. Possibly earlier, if they keep getting high air temps. But a lot more water has been pumped in than previous years ect. One good thing is, that they're all ready driving across the top off the lake to the ideal launch spot.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly the forecast we need (or stronger) - http://wind.willyweather.com.au/sa/limestone-coast/beachport.html and it'll be interesting to see what sort of speeds are reached by those who are there.

As Izaak said, water level will continue to improve (get shallower), so late-Feb until mid-march probably to key time, but if an epic session comes along from next weekend onward, Steve and I will be keen to go (still waiting on new fins and sails at the moment)!!

PS - you will need weed fins if going when the water level is down into the weed! Slingshots apparently OK at 30 degree rake, but ideally you have something with 40 degree rake or more, from what we've been hearing.

I am thinking of going when Dave and Steve go. Is anyone else interested in going as I have a spare seat in the van?
