WT committee meeting is happening tomorrow evening, and calendar will be discussed.

Personally I'd like to see a "statewide" LT series if people are keen- eg Lauderdale, SBSC, Swansea, Ulverstone- best 3 or 4 for example.

If anyone has thoughts, ideas, wishes to organise an event, please let me or one of the committee know.

Also to be discussed is having the "end of season" AGM at location other than Stanley, or alternate with Stanley/ elsewhere every other year.

I am also unfinancial at present. The universal undertone I hear regarding WT membership is the lack of "VTM".
I believe, although I have not confirmed it; Kiting Tasmania has a broader public liability insurance cover than WT
which covers members activities outside organised events.
Could someone from KT clarify the veracity of this claim please. If this PL is available perhaps WT could put this on the agenda. The benefits of moving to a broader insurance coverage public liability are obvious and attractive. Even if it cost a little more, personally I'd wear it.

The proposal for an LT OD competition is a good one and also an incentive for membership to WT. For those of us who have to settle fotr old Wallies because our incomes have to be directed towards mundane things like housing, feeding, clothing and sending offspring to university, would it be feasable to run the competition with a parallel B division for the old class as the Old Wally is uncompetitive against the LT. This would allow the Wally underclass to participate.

I would like to see WT work with the wind gods to make sure there's wind for every event organised

On a serious note, I enjoy the GPS and wave events, it's a shame that the wind hasn't wanted to play ball when the GPS events have been on. It would be great sailing all around Swansea GPSing. Maybe consider holding a GPS event at Marion Bay lagoon, rely's on NE or SW wind direction.

And I agree with making the AGM at different locations each year. For the southerners Stanley is a big drive if the winds looking dodgy.

On theWindsurfer OD topic,
it appears they are alive and well.
Before organizing OD events...
The guys who started all the revitalization of OD racing in Tassie dont get on the seabreeze forum. Instead using a FB page.
They have been running races throughout winter and it sound like they are already organizing thei agenda for the coming season.
Before Windsurfing Tas makes decisions about OD racing it would be best to involve these guys and girls and perhaps let them make the decision...
Otherwise you could split the group.

Automatic exclusion for a number of people if FB is the sole platform.

Kiteboarding Association membership is $130-60 a year. ( mostly insurance i believe?)
WT finds it hard to get $50 from us Tassie guys/Gals..... dont like chances of that one.
Besides it is AWA.- that has set up the insurance... for all states.
When i was on the committee of Wt this topic would come up every year - why dont we get more,, What do we get for insurance ... so on.
And every year it was decided that WT gave the best value membership it could at the current price it charges.

In response to Relic- insurance is organised by Australian Windsurfing Association for all affiliated clubs (including WT). This has just been re-negotiated with same insurer that does Kiting Australia. Yes, it will be discussed- and I am always happy to fill people in regarding insurance.

LT racing will be going ahead this season- we are working on the details for calendar. Jo Chau and I were discussing best options to get a variety of craft on the water (like we did at SBSC State Titles with the different divisions).

Kazza, wind is always an issue (unless you get an LT). There have been proposed freerace events for Swansea last two Septembers, but wind didn't come along. I would like to have a freerace / LT weekend again this year- then we get a bet both ways. Get everyone from north and south on the water. Swansea is good when it blows, and not too bad for a longboard sail either.

What Damien says re insurance generally is correct. More cost + more cover. As I said above, very happy to update peeps on this one. Regarding the OD / LT facebook page, there is a bit happening "in parallel" platforms on this front. The LT racing will be posted where possible on seabreeze and/or by facebook and/or emails.

Thanks for the explanation Damo and Clarence re PL. It's a steep jump in cost for the extra coverage for an arguably higher risk activity.

The committee meeting was held last night and after overcoming some technical issues, we had participation from Dave, Kaleb, Marty and Jo Chau from the South and Clarence, Gill, Al & myself in the North. The committee formally welcomed Jo and her insights into yacht club processes as well as through Jo's role as Tasmanian representative on the WCAA (Windsurfer LT) committee.

Prior to the meeting Clarence notified the committee of his intention to vacate the President's position and so under the Rules of the Association a nomination was called for to fill the role until the next AGM. I have been nominated to fill the President role and Clarence will continue on as the Vice President as well as AWA representative. It should be noted that there are provisions to hold a Special General Meeting if a group of (10 or more) members call for that to happen before the AGM.

The committee extended their appreciation of Clarence's personal drive and passion that he has brought to the President role, the work put into getting the Association re-incorporated, his engagement with AWA and overall commitment to the sport. I look forward to working closely with Clarence, giving him a bit more time to dedicate to his very busy life outside of WT.

The outcomes of the meeting will be the publishing of the final competition results and finalised AGM minutes, further information and updates on insurances, draft event calendar and clarification of processes related to Learner board hire and learner days. On the board hire, I will be working with Marty to see how we can set up TidyHQ to improve the administration of board hire for the benefit of those volunteers involved in hiring as well as addressing the insurance & membership issues effectively.

The committee also agreed to a proposal to decouple the AGM from the Stanley long weekend event to allow the next meeting to be scheduled at a time and location that will allow greater participation from all members.

I am privileged to have been offered the position of President and will be focused on delivering value to members, attracting new members and delivering on the objectives of the WT Association which are;
(a) to promote and advocate for the sport of windsurfing in Tasmania ;
(b) provide pathways to entry into the sport of windsurfing;
(c) provide a governing body to the arrangement of state events including state titles; and
(d) provide association for members into the national and international events and associations.
