G'day all,
I have just moved to Ulverstone, and am wanting to get back into this great sport. I used to sail at East Beach and sometime Lagoon on wave boards, still have some old and some new gear.
Anyone sailed much at ulverstone? What type of board, sail, etc?
Having been out of the sport so long, the new gear looks pretty confusing. I am wondering what a good board and rig would be to get me out at the main beach there in light winds, a bit of chop and swell. I want to be able to sail in 10 knots and up....when it gets going, I can revert to my trusty wave boards, but want something to use when it's not blowing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hey TassieMatt

I live in Ulverstone check out the Tassie Spot Guide in the index look for the NW spots.
Quite a few of us learnt to sail and then raced off Ulv. for a lot of years now mostly into GPS stuff so sail more at Port Sorell or Stanley just go out off here now for the odd blast around.
Talk to Perks or Izaak re the best gear.
cheers

Hey Tassiematt, I'm from port sorell 25mins away, from Ulv. For what your looking at sailing in conditions wise. And the vast majority of spots. Something around 100-120liter. and more freeride orientated would be ideal. Such as JP xcite ride/fsw or starboard kode/carve ect ect just an example.. And maybe a sail or two around 6.0m-7.5m again a freeride sail with no cams. That way they're more durable, lighter and very user friendly. Then if you turn to your wave boards, maybe a 5m?

If you find a board ect and unsure feel free to message me or post on the forms and we will all help you out.

Thanks guys, a great help, I'll start looking around. I was at Port Sorell the other day checking it out, I can certainly see the attraction for pure speed there.........
