After consulting with Steve Charles I've changed the Tassie group on ka72.com into a five month competition.

Steve actually asked for October to February, but for some reason my brain short-circuited and I set it up for September to February instead. I'll change it to October soon!

Here's the group URL: www.ka72.com/Login?returnurl=%2fGroups%2fGroup-Activity%2fgroupid%2f15

I thought I'd post something here for Tassie sailors to introduce the group and the concept to anyone who is interested.

The competition is open to any GPS tracks recorded in Tasmania between 1 October 2016 and 28 Feb 2017. In order to register for the competition, you need to have "Joined" the group (by clicking the Join button on the above linked page.) There is no entry fee, and any track you upload to ka72.com from sailing in Tasmanian waters is automatically included. If you join after the event starts, any old track within the competition dates will automatically be included. If you leave the group, any tracks you uploaded will automatically be removed from the competition. You also need to be a member of Windsurfing Tas.

You have to be registered on ka72.com to join, but that's free. If anyone would like to support the site and the development of Groups and other competitions, I'd encourage you to join the site with a Pro membership (which also gives access to more stats about your sailing and other functionality) but this isn't required to join this competition. Pro membership is available via www.ka72.com/Membership-AU and keeps the site ad-free and online.

The competition format is mostly the same as previous GP5 competitions in this group with one major difference.

In this year's comp, your top monthly scores will accumulate, so the GP5 score you get in the first month will be added to the score for the second month and so on.

Finally, I'll be visiting Tasmania around the new year, and hope to touch base with some of the Speed Seekers in person.

Please feel free to post here or on the ka72 forums if you have any questions or comments about the competition, or get in touch by email dylan@ka72.com

Dylan.

Thats great Dylan, thanks for setting this up and we look forward to catching up with you in Tas. As Dylan said anyone can join up the Tassie group page on KA72 and its free. However if you want to be part of the WT statewide Tassie Champs GPS5 comp then you need to join Windsurfing Tasmania and become a member. Comp kicks off 1st Oct and finishes last day of Feb 2017. You will need a GPS and download your tracks on KA72. You can sail any location on the same day and combine your files. If anyone wants anymore info get in contact with Anthony Perkins up north or Kaleb, Dave M or me down south. Cheers and good luck.

Kids taking up too much space these days, don't think there is going to be any room in the rental car for all of us and my kit . If I did bring it it wont blow and if I don't there should be plenty of wind! Really looking forward to it as last time I was in Tassie I was a kid leaving the state after living there for 10 years, haven't been back since, i'm sure it has changed a lot, will be good to check out my old house in Leith on the north coast and all the places I remember holidaying at as a child.

So with the comp starting soon we need some Windsurfing Tas joining forms.
