Morning.

Visiting the in-laws at Kayena again in a few weeks. So, I have been on the Tassie Spot guide looking at options.

Have tried The Lagoon and Kelso Bay. Spoke to some of the regulars at Rosevears and think that might be a bit beyond me.
Not a wave sailor and only have an old 84cm wide Free Formula board down there.

Thinking of a trip to Port Sorell if I can. Going to be a bit time limited this trip.

I am also looking at Redbill Point at Beauty Point on Google, and am wondering if it might be a reasonable spot for some safe flat water closer to Kayena?

Tried a search on here but found no mention of it, and not listed on the spot guide.
Anyone sailed there or can tell me if it is a possibility, or should it be avoided for some reason?

Cheers, Brad.

Hi Brad
Paper Beach is a good safe option and very close to home.
Cheers

Around Redblll Point is okay if the tide is high.

Can get very shallow. Closer to the Riviera Hotel is probably better.

There can be a bit of a current around the Point itself near the caravan park when the tide is moving.

Cheers Clarence. Will go and check it out, looks like a nice sandy bottom.
I think I went for a look at Paper Beach a few visits back at low tide and there seemed to be a fair few rocks?
Unless I am thinking of somewhere else.

Rocks and oysters further out at Paper Beach. Booties highly recommended.

It is good in the right conditions (northerly and high tide).

Even has a tap to wash gear off if you take a hose.

Not just a tap at Paper Beach. Grass, toilets, BBQs and a coffee shop.

Don't sail at redbill point without boots. Sailed there a few years ago, mostly muddy then you will hit a random patch of oysters. If it's easterly you can take off from the shelter near the fish shop. But if it's easterly just go to Kelso instead
