Like Xarvia I'm still trying to work out where to go when the wind comes from different directions (which it seems to do on any given day with great regularity!). Yesterday, the wind seemed strongest on the river (20-30knots) for a good few hours, but not as strong out Lauderdale way. We checked Doran's (too much N in it?), Lauderdale front beach, and Cremorne (cross shore but not very strong and pretty flat). Got sick of driving and went where it was strongest, back to town, and had 3 good hours of wind (with Graham it seems!). So where do (did) people sail when its N / NNW like yesterday?

Must have missed you then Kazza, there was not a soul in sight anywhere out Lauderdale way just after midday and not so much wind, but easily enough for the 4.2 on the dirty derwent

Later in the day there were about 6 people sailing at Dorans ( not a good direction though) and from what i have heard about the same on the pond at Cremorne ( probably a better bet if flat water is your go).
The river can be good in Northerlies but i still reckon it is a prick of a place!!!
Thats only my opinion though and yes north/ north westerlies do cause a lot of frustration down this way.
cheers

Yeh, I'd agree. River is not brilliant, but it beats waiting around for it to fill in (or not, as is too often the case) somewhere else , and the "pond" sounds even flatter. I saw a heap of cars at Doran's when we went past, but no one out, and not much wind getting in.

Can't beat the river in NNW, the water is cleaner now than it was 20 years ago. The access is not great since the new promenade thingy was built, best access is Sandy Bay Sailing Club.
****water(Pittwater) used to be popular in NNW also.

I was in & out all arvo at Lauderdale Askoarras. Started with small slalom gear about 1.30pm but got to windy and bouncy on that then took out wave board & 4.7 about 3.30pm and it slowly dropped out, the timing to get it right was a bit difficult Sunday, the wind was so up & down. I only live down the road that's why I sailed Lauderdale. So N - NNW I'd head for the Derwent, Lauderdale front beach, Midway Point, the pond or Mortimer Bay, stupid direction. When it's hot like that the closest destination will do!!
