The traditional long weekend event at Stanley is planned for the 7-8th March, with a Freerace planned for the Cape Country Classic. Racing could be on Saturday or Sunday depending on forecast, with Monday a fallback option.

Planning is usually around a social event at the Stanley pub on Saturday night and hopefully Cookie can sweet talk the pub into making a later/larger booking once the 6pm punters have finished meals (tbc).

Note: The AGM will not be held at Stanley this year, but is planned for the weekend of the LT State titles in Hobart to encourage a greater participation and potentially some of the newer WT members from the LT fraternity (separate post on that to follow). Based on LT activity across the state, there should be a number of Northern sailors around Hobart that weekend also.

For the last few years Stanley turned on the wind very nicely- hopefully more of the same this year.

The wind forecast is marginal at the moment, with Sunday morning looking the best at the moment and Easterly direction. Hopefully Stanley will turn on more than the forecast, which is often the case.
I've booked in for Saturday at the caravan park.

For Cape Country Classic, Sunday is looking progressively better.

Could be a case of start any time Sunday morning- any hour you like after sunrise- early bird gets the worm.

Alan, Cookie and I (from memory we got top three places last year) will all be there.

Just met with Mort. If there is wind the event will be on. There are at least 5 of us up here.

The rules will be: pick an hour that suits you tomorrow, anywhere on water in the Stanley area and we'll collate the GPS results when everyone is done.

Forecast to be (possibly) 15 knots easterly, best around sunrise/early morning.

Rig up a big sail and cross your fingers. I have event sign-on forms, so please complete one prior to getting on the water.

We just checked out the supermarket, and there is lots of toilet paper. Guests at Cabin Park can use it in toilets as part of the deal. Get here before word gets out.

And don't wait for low tide.. there's not much water in the inlet

Sunday morning turned out to be a marginal proposition with the longboard option taken up by Clarence on a a SB Phantom with an 8.0 (at the end of clip) and myself on a NP Foil with a 5.7 S1 wavesail (my favourite foiling sail because its so light).
Johnno (Ian) & Jack v.E and myself had a crack on the slalom/freeride boards a little later, but without much success.

The breeze seemed to strengthen later in the day, but went a bit North which is not ideal at Stanley and I was in the car on the way home by then.

We'll get all the stats and work out who won.

I had some nice solid runs, though it was a bit patchy.

You look like you've got the foiling thing under control in very choppy conditions Mort.
