Hey Guys! I'll put up a final notice tomorrow after 2pm. However, at this stage its looking like a possible no go with winds under 15 knots forecast all weekend and only a very slight chance of a seabreeze late Sunday.

Might have to lower the wind limit to 12 knots now everyone has bigger gear

The event is cancelled due to the light wind forecast!

If we do get wind we can run a local south fun race, but it will not be part of the state round of events.

Yes good call and exactly what I was going to suggest about having a light wind comp. Maybe aim for Sunday arvo wind permitting.

Yep, good call. Hopefully we still get a sail somewhere, but forecast doesn't look at all suitable for a State Title slalom comp.

Didn't happen.
Steve went out for about 2hours. I only saw him plane twice, and that was about 20meters each time.

Saw your van over there FOS for about 5 hrs. What on earth did you do with yourself over there with no wind for 5 hrs? Maybe watching the grass grow

You should have been at Rose Bay. Was fully lit with the 7.8! Wind was pretty steady 12-18 knots the whole time!

Why don't you incorporate this round with the Dash for Cash?
Have the Dash, then the slalom races - would make for good viewing from shore, plus there would be plenty of people to actually view it.
Assuming there's wind of course.
Just a thought?

There has only been wind once in about 8 years, hard enough getting one race in powered conditions.
Other regatta users are on the water throughout the whole day, the slalom event goes over a fair amount of the day.
It woukld be all right if no one else wanted to use the water that day,
not much chance on Regatta day,

Easty, this is not a bad idea and may be possible in the future. But I very much doubt it could happen this year, unless of course there was a motivated person out there that really wanted to push this with the Sandy Bay Sailing Club. As the race organiser for round 2 I am not interested in doing this at all.
Damien is spot on, we cant just throw it on the end of the dash, we would have to be timetabled into the Regatta program. Traditionally the Dash is not a WT event as such, it is run under the Sandy Bay Regatta and open to any entrant(don't have to be in WT).
To try and add a WT event into the Regatta would involve a lot of ground work and discussion about liability etc.
