Pretty much no wind all day. Definately one of the hardest days racing (if you can call it that) I have ever done. Managed to get up on the plane twice.
We had 3 races and every race we dogged around the course (for an hour each race), not much fun. Big congrats to all the sailboarders who went out. The beer is now flowing nicely, much needed.

I got lapped in both races I took part in, but had a bit of fun praticing Heli Tack between races.

Back to it tomorrow.

If anyone wants one I have the 3 starboard starts in my van... so let me know _ i'll be there around 8:30 tomorrow

I just had an hours sleep, I've never been as tired after sailing as I am after racing today, dogging must make you tired.

JUst saw showdown on news and the water looked almost mirror like and no wind, must of been hard work and pumping central to get around course.

As hard as it was, which it was, it was still good fun. Got three races in, each of two laps. Had 12 starters, which is pretty good!! The Windsurfer One Designs ruled the day today; well done to Tim Jones who won two of the three WOD races. In the Formula Windsurfing division, well done to Richard Carrington-Smith for also winning two races and getting a second in the other - top effort and now leading the state titles on points!!

Karen, you were going really well in the two races you did, fantastic effort!!

For those who are wondering, if it wasn't a Yacht Club organised event, we wouldn't race unless we had planing conditions (over 8 knots), but the racing happens regardless when it's run by the clubs!!

Back to it again tomorrow!!!

Forecast isnt looking too good tomorrow, maybe in the arvo may be ok, just.

just talked to dad and they were racing in a steady 8 knots wind in the sports boats category pity you couldn't do that coarse or something.

Well can I say, the highlight was finally getting back to the beach and eating the choc muffin and water.

Hopefully we will aswell, I'm heading down to Marion after lunch. Going to sail on the inside, not allowed to go into the waves or the heart patient(Houston) might cry.

With any luck Anthony will have a GPS post up for today. It's a pitty his GPS wasn't set up properly on Friday,he would have had a very respectful first posting. Although I doubt he will ever get to 30!

Just got back to Bicheno after a sail at Georges Bay St Helens.
Gusting from nothing to just under 40 kts real strong bullets going through but no flat water.

well got a little sail in might head back out now winds back in.

While it was blowing 70 knots from the west at Cape Grim it was blowing 15 knots from the west just down the road at Strahan (often the way at Henty)

I seemed to be the only one in the Showdown today, couldn't see anyone one else with me going around the first buoy or screaming over the finish line, disappointing turnout but I collected the trophy so I'm happy.
Headed off down to Marion Bay in the afternoon and found most of the so called "top sailors" skulking down at the cemetry.
I took them on in my usual form with my GPS and no doubt scored the fastest run of the day.
Only problem, after Buzzy coaching me for hours yesterday on how to upload this frickin little gadget, it wouldn't download, so again you have to take my word, I hit 38.4 knots after you all went home, trust me, I do.

I believe you Ant What I cant believe is that you're having sooooo much trouble with downloading and uploading your data from your GPS as its sooo easy, even for people over 60

It was going off at Lauderdale front beach yesterday arvo, was in the middle of a paddle when it hit, nearly lost my paddle with a gusts and my boat nearly threw me out. Couldn't sail, had to keep the boss happy who says I'm obsessed with windsurfing. Does anyone else have this problem with their other halfs

Kazza, yes, common problem. I just don't know how anyone can be so uninterested in what the wind forecast is. Everytime I try to talk about windsurfing she gets this glazed look in her eye and just seems to drift off. Do you think there is something wrong with her?

I think if we had the brownie points system at home, I would not be sailing for the next ten years.

That's funny. My mum reckons there are a group of people that just have to do these things, we just can't help it, it's as you say"in our blood". Yachty's are the same, snow skiiers virtually anything extreme I think. It took a long time for mum and dad to understand my need to do these things, maybe it's just a time thing and slowly they'll give up trying to make us give it all up. Something inside me would die if I had to give it all up.....so I'll shall remain determined with all guns firing. I would never make anyone give up anything, unless it was something like murdering people, eating roadkill etc.

What's wrong with roadkill? When I was a poor uni student (as opposed to just being poor), um, I'll leave it at that.

What the matter with road kill, a lot of things eat it. Just make sure you get the fresh stuff. the older stuff has extra protein.

Yep I get the whole why are you so obsessed thing, especially when I get home form the showdown and tell her I was at Marion Bay.

Kazz I don't get it, are you saying that you couldn't go sailing because you had to keep you partner happy by doing what they want to do? After all those hours you spend together doing those other sports?
Are you also saying that your partner doesn't like windsurfig? I hope this is not the case, it would be a shame to have a president of an incorporated body not interested in what it's core function is. i.e. to represent the sport and support those that are passionate about it. [}:)]
