Any one read today's Mercury (Sunday) on the 3rd page about shark sighting off a popular South Arm surfing beach? Now the buggers are hanging around here. Anyone up for a sail at Goats or Sandpits?

It's OK, I hear they have no interest in non-loopers

Dont worry too much about the shark. She visits the area veery year. I saw her at the Iron Pot while diving. She cruised past casually. I got out uncasually! Lots of other divers have seen her too and all lived to tell the tale albeit with darker coloured wetsuit lining!. As far as I know she has never been a threat. Best to use a bit of common sense and stear clear for a week or two before she moves on.

Am I safe with others? Surely these eating machines have well developed taste senses that will encourage them to seek younger flesh rather than the tougher medicated wrinkly bits of older folk. Perhaps they prefer a sensitive interllectual experience. Oh dear to do or not to do - but hold on, the wind is suggesting land based activities. I will go drive my car instead and be much less safe.

The marine biologists who saw the shark at "The Pot" and browned their wetsuits, identified the shark as female, shortly before leaping into their boat in full scuba gear!

Two shark attack deaths in twenty years vs hundereds of road deaths, murders In TAS. alone.
Genocide in Syria the list goes on. Give sharks a break. I'd rather swim with a Great White than try to reason with an IS extremist brandishing a Kalashnikov! Survival chances with the shark are much higher!
Yep humans are by far the most dangerous species.

And when they see a windsurfer lying in the water they go what the hell is that weird looking shape, that doesn't look like a seal, might stay clear of that one

The problem Relic is that IS are over there, sharks are here. Perhaps if we could convert them to a religion and arm them they might reduce their own numbers.

Murders, ice addicts, prison breaks safer in the water than any city street

Ps . They can sense the size of the object to be attacked hopefully sailboards with rig down are too big but it makes a fast water start feel good
Time to watch shark attack special on insight (sbs)

Get a grip Kazza. They swim past on their way to feedin places like seal colonies. Shark attacks on humans are sxtremely rare and usually mistaken identity.
If you're that' worried get a land sailer!

Well this shark thing all started with my 2 sons body boarding at RSL's (South Arm) Saturday morning. Something big, dark and with a fin went by my eldest - freaked him out big time (as it would). So the news got out and apparently there was another sighting later that day and also at Clifton on Sunday. Now I have been trying to get these kids into windsurfing for many years and thus seized on this opportunity. Boy's I said, you body boarders are always Shark bait with your legs dangling down with those flippers on waiting for a wave, where as us windsurfer's are always flying around on top of the water (well most of the time). Got them thinking but still don't like my chances.

Let's concentrate on the real issue. The shark sightings are a robo shark launched by Houston to distract us from non looping.

Sharks accidentally "taste us when we enter their territory so humans have and still want to cull them ,this makes us the more dangerous ,revengeful species .
Hitler,Polpot,Martin Byant weren't driven by hunger and killed more people in a day than sharks ever will

Just to let you know Kazza. It was in the project or news months back that it (for some reason) is 90%more likely for men to be attacked by sharks than women. (This wasn't due to the ratio of men to women in water). So surround yourself with a few guys and you'll be right

I'm not that worried about sharks. Not sure if Ild take up surfing but I feel pretty safe windsurfing until your trying to water start out off Goats. But I feel much safer when Fos out there falling in out the back as I think a shark would find him more appealing than my skinny legs sorry Fos, it's let's pick on Fos week I think
