If anyone is after a set of sail numbers, I'm about to order some from a company in NZ who recently posted a note on the Seabreeze forum. You can get them customised, but I'm just after plain - as follows.

First sticker for a combined order is $45 and then additional ones are $20 per sticker, plus freight. If you are interested in getting some when I order, let me know (pm or email me). Size is 220cm x 705cm and I plan to place two stickers back to back on my sails, so probably around $50 a sail.

PS that's NZ - so works out about 20% cheaper once currency exchange comes into effect.

You will need a bigger sail to fit those numbers on

These will be quite a bit smaller than my last lot? Letters are 200mm high instead of 230mm, background is 10mm instead of 30mm and they are spaced closer together. Maybe still too big?

I'll order some and see!!

Why not use your local sailmaker and keep the business in Tassie

I've used three different 'local' companies so far and have had issues with all of them, including the price. Usually around $60 for two sets of sail numbers. One company got all of my sets of numbers wrong ('AUS-2' instead of AUS-02'), despite clear instructions. Another made them too big, so I couldn't put them on my smaller sails (my mistake for not specifying the size enough, but there was just too much background and the numbers were spaced too far apart). The third required me to buy the numbers that they had cut out and I had to try and line them up and apply them one by one to each of my 4 sails. So, at not much more than $20 a pop, I'm now willing to give the NZ company a try. If you know of anyone who can do a good job for around the same price, or even a little bit more, I'll certainly save on freight and would be happy to give them an order. Haven't got around to ordering yet, so offer is open ...

Big black texta and clear sailmaking tape, cheap as it gets and you get to snort the fumes

... and that confirms why I need to source from NZ instead of using a local sailmaker ...
