Well done to "The President of the United State of Windsurfing" leading by example on your track work at the pond. When you mentioned "Pots" I thought you were referring to cray pots! Let us know next time so we can help please.
Thanks Relic that'd great.
Most of you would remember last summer there was a meeting at the Pond of local residents and windsurfers to discuss what we should do to preserve Lumeah Point Reserve (The Pond) for the benefit of all residents and recreational users as well as protecting the native flora and fauna.
From the public meeting a Working Group (5 people) was formed which I volunteered to be part of on behalf of WT.
The committee is a great group and very happy with the windsurfers, how we behave and what we bring to their community.
We've now had several meetings to form a plan to put to various govt. departments to ask for assistance and seek their approval for the Lumeah Point community to manage the reserve. So far we have had a very positive response from everyone we have contacted.
Part of the plan is to repair the track with minimal impact to the reserve. The gravel was laid down by Roger Toombs and I as a trial, it was pretty easy, half a trailer load of gravel ($22) and half an hours work. If the residents are happy with that we can have a working bee, need about 4 loads, to finish the job. We'll need about $120 to finish the track which will include the area at the end where many of us rig. Maybe we could have a bbq to raise a few bob to finsih the job.
I'll let you know when I've had a reponse from the Working Group
