Ok so this has not happened so far but that's because there has been no swell on the north coast for about two months which is almost unbelievable in spring!!! There has been some pretty good freeride/slalom sailing in the river so I am pretty confident about the 7th 8th Nov for the river race but hopefully the westerlies will return and we will be able to hold an expression session sometime in the next month. The fun thing will be that no northerner will remember how to wavesail so the crashes should be spectacular.
Agreed with Mitch. There has been a bit of sailing lately it just hasn't coincided with a weekend.... So don't worry Al, we still might be able to sail
Ok so all those leaners out there (not learners!) are all wavesailing a lot but the lifters are going to struggle due to the recent lack of wind within 1km of Low Head on Sundays between the hours of 11am to 3pm.
....and Clarky I am that dude who turns up at Bell Buoy a couple of time a year and does floaty jumps (no rotation) but unlike that other non rotating "senior" I don't crash!
Two flat water pond days plus a cross off starboard tack wave ride are not the best warm up for a cross/ cross on port tack comp But Ant is ready to bust out his huge starboard tack forwards off the lip at Bellboy this weekend
Pearso said.. So a comp is on for this Saturday then?
And practice for us on Friday afternoon!
I am pretty busy on Saturday morning so could find it difficult to run the contest then but you are welcome to run something if you can generate the numbers and I will try to get there later on to document Greenies super smooth forward skills (and see him throw some buckets as he shreds down the line).
14 pro wave sailors heading North , be there at 6 am saturday Good call conditions look perfect Not!!, you guys might get a result if the 25knts comes through, good luck and have fun
Yet again the forecast has eased for the weekend, I imagine there will be a some wind but not enough swell to justify a contest. Regardless I still might head down to check out Geoff's push loop attempts and Greenies Barrels .....no.... I mean end over forwards...and I might even do some floaty jumps myself.....the water is still to cold to be refining the "rock Lobster" but might be OK for a Duck Gibe with added shaka (the hand gesture not the really complex freestyle move!)
I don't think you guys actually like wave sailing comps. Maybe just the idea of one? With a high tide at 1530 the waves should be coming in quite nicely at Bell Buoy.

I am pretty sure Ant wont make the trip unless the forecast is for it to blow snot and it isn't a looping contest without the Ant-meister.
That video makes me feel a little better Al, I'm able to perform the crash part (not necessarily the twisty spinny bits with the sail and board). Second time back on the water today after a dislocated shoulder, so looking forward to catching up with some sailors on the November weekend. PS sorry to go off topic from the North South forward loop p#ssing contest. Very amusing.
Sorry fellas can't make it up tomorrow if I gave you my excuse you wouldn't believe me sorry to let you down...................have fun...................watching Greenie attempt a loop............................ Clarky keeps telling me he can't nail them................................but we know better
Apologies from down south tried to rally troops for northern comp but everyone is sick or injured from one big windy day down south a week ago. That is except damo his van is sick again and Ant who only sails waves OS theses days Next weekend hopefully some of us old bastards will be fit and have transport sorted
