Mort great idea for you guys up north.

Posting on Sbreeze and using pigeons is soooooo old school and useless for on the spot reports etc.
Most of the true believers up north are actually members of the southern Whattsapp group.
perhaps you need to prod some of the others up there.
you will find a few non believers on this post to start with.

Example - this week southern whattsapp has been very active with all the wetserlies. imagine today will be the same
cheers

I've added you Mort, but like Damo suggests we are fairly light on with 4 members. I think Last time we maxed out at 6-8 ppl...

Thanks Hamish. I've had a few sails at Bakers recently, but not so keen to sail there on my Pat Malone and I know Luka sails there fairly regularly.

Damo, I'm after wind and sailing updates not so much the banter, but each to their own . Even Al and Clarence have smartphones these days, so we're racing into the Windsurfing 4.0 era.

Another potential benefit of WhatsApp would be to create a group for each WT event then updates can be transmitted to registered participants instantaneously. The mind boggles

Cheers,
Mort

Yeah Mort
not a lot of banter on ours -97% wind reports and sailing info.
we have 62 participants and going strong.
Yes we use it for windsurfing related events and even the odd 4 sale of gear.

Nonsense.
If you want to stick the boot in you can be direct. I can take it. However going back in time is unhelpful referring to my previous post.
Effectively the best platform for the promotion of our sport is being unfairly maligned by the suggestion Seabreeze out dated. It is not.
As this site points out quite sensibly on the terms and conditions page; by using FB, WA and other social media platforms for promotion of events such as the OD Group does. Individuals unwilling to expose themselves to Facebook in particular are excluded. It's appreciated that Geared relays the OD Facebook postings but it's unnecessary time spent regardless if someone is willing to do it.
Reverse the sequence of promotion. Post the info here FIRST and then direct the information to FB, WA and whatever other digital brain f@rt, bovine or sheep herd social media you want.
As this site points out in its terms of use page the result of going off to other platforms not specifically designed for our activity fractures and dilutes the platform diminishing it. Seabreeze is perfect for publicising all types of dates and events. The fundamental difference is choice of access. This platform is not invasive which is its greatest attribute. Only information individuals chose to publish is seen here. There is no information mining. (I know what end to end encryption is if were going to talk about WA) If you have your ad blocker switched on you won't even get pop up ads on this platform.
Now I'm going to lie down, curl up and cover my head in readiness for a good kicking.

Spot on Relic, I won't kick you mate.

Inclusion is key, especially for people like me who aren't into apps.

Geez.... I only wanted to get on the Whatsapp group .

Point taken Relic, this forum will remain the primary means of communication on WT matters, notification of events etc.
Finding better ways to communicate the changing nature of events on the day however, is an opportunity for event organizers worth considering (I should know after the last event went pear shaped) .

Here's to a windy spring and a lot of sailing!!

no harm intended just pointing out previous discussions and no boots in anyone.
on the spot reports whattsapp,
seabreeze for other .
So simple..
not need for a debate!,,
The od guys have a very active fb group and so do the gps groups, these bovine groups are doing quite well thankyou.

Mort get into the boys up north and start the whattsap group up and going.
forget the 60 year old dinasours .
Messenger has taken over .
Gumtree is now obsolete to marketplace..
You want young people to join in on our sport , then addapt to the changes.
