Ok. So it's been about 20 years (including the last 6 spent overseas), but I am now looking at getting back into windsurfing. I've managed to scrape some (dated) gear together and now have both wave and slalom set-ups.

I have been keeping an eye on this forum for the last month or so and recognise at least a couple of names from the mid-late 80's when my brothers and I were regulars on the lawn in front of Prossers. We used to live and breathe windsurfing back then...

Anyway, I am based in Hobart and spend a lot of time down Connellys Marsh way (between Dunalley and Carlton) - just keen to introduce myself to the community and hopefully become involved.

A few things:

- How do I join the WhatsApp group for keeping in touch with like-minded folk in Southern Tas?

- Does anyone know of any SDM masts, and a solid wave boom (or two) going cheap? I also need to get my hands on a decent waist harness..... (I did have a bit of gear stored under my brother's house whilst OS, but it seems to have disappeared!).

- Any kid's rigs out there?

I am quite happy to ride the older gear for a while and see where things go from here ..... besides, I told my wife that windsurfing is not an expensive past time!

Have you looked on the Tassie Windsurfing Buy Sell and Chat Facebook page? Also the buy and sell listings on seabreeze?

If all else fails ring Damien at Jaysails (geared4knots). He knows what's going around the place.

There is a series of events with Windsurfing Tasmania (see seabreeze and facebook Windsurfing Tasmania).

By the way, Damien also did a good post about the pitfalls of buying outdated windsurfing gear which is worth a read.

Thanks Clarence. I have been keeping an eye on both the SB and FB buy and sell, as well as GT.

As luck would have it, I have already had a PM with an offer of some gear, inc a kids rig - which means that there will be 4 more stoked kids getting on the water this Summer! A big shout out to the person making the offer.

I saw Damien's post and appreciate the sentiments about using the latest gear. However, I am happy to go retro for now and see how it all pans out.

thanks
