New speed run that James has sailed on and we have permission to use it. Over 800m long and looks the goods. We sussed it out the other day. Nothing stopping the wind and should blow the rite direction most of the time as it is in Cressy where the wind funnels the same way most days.

All good for access ect. The owner would prefer to only have a few sailors on it and cars parked on the road side, only 20m away anyway.

James has been there many many times looking at it and said the wind was very consistent when he tried it. Nothing stopping the wind too.

That's what we like to hear - new speed strip!! That's a pretty long run!! Looks good. What's the best wind direction (or what's the dam wall angle)?

Freshwater won't make too much difference. It's equivalent to about 3.5 kg extra body weight for a 100 kg person.

On my (too) numerous trips up north to work I've been turning off at Ross and going through Cressy, taking the back road to Deloraine. (anything to get off that "highway").
Anyway, between Ross and Cressy there's an awesome looking long dam, looks great for NW to SW, and very very long.

Well now that we are here, I should say hi, look, how lucky is this, I have my gear with me.

That's Poatina Dam, still haven't seen it myself, but a few of the guys have checked it out. Plenty of potential there as well!!

Would be interesting to know e-coli levels. The pic shows some black spots on the shore which look suspiciously like cow pats

Might be interesting, but who gives a #^$%, if it's a good run a bit of e. coli ain't gonna matter.
