We have FOUR keys, these allow access to the area, gate pole must be slid back across/ prefer locked if by self when you are in there.
i have one key , grab it on the way past is if you want,
I think Kaleb?? and Dave?? and Marty Jack have the others, all available to all windsurfers who want to use the area.
cheers

I checked out the track today! It's awesome that the area can now be accessed by all the windsurfers, not just the ones with 4x4's. I have the same question about the keys too. Is it possible to get a copy? Or would it be possible for a key to be put somewhere where it is easy to grab it on the way past without having to organise getting it (like somewhere outside at damo's or kazza's house as they are pretty central to the area?)

Will,
No copies allowed, to be honest we are lucky to get some at all.

now that the track has been fixed and more sailors will want access to Mortimer we will have to decide best way to get the key.(s), so all windsurfers can have access to this great area. perhaps something WT should figure out.
i certainly dont want my house as a pick up/drop off point as a long term solution.

I can understand that Damo. The only reason I said your house is because you are nice and central to the Lauderdale windsurfing areas. Often I have found that I have ended up sailing unexpectedly at Mortimer because the conditions have been too southerly for Dorans which is why it would be good to be able to grab a key in the area. If it were helpful I am more than happy to have a key permanently in my letterbox at Howrah so anyone traveling to Mortimer who is going past can just grab it but it might be better to have them closer to the gate than that.

Thats fair enough Will,
sometimes i have 15 people drop in in a day with the Wind and Sup stuff , i think any more traffic outside the house i will have to open a parking station!!

There are 4 other Windsufers in Lauderdale and one on the route to Mortimer, I will find out if one of them want to leave the Key in their letterbox etc.

Wiil I have a key which I could give to you to look after as you guys use the gate more than me. The key is in my van so grab it when you see me next. I'll be away from 3rd-23rd Jan so if you want it now just drop in to my place and grab it.

If we all had a copy how would anyone know how many keys there were amongst windsurfers unless we talked about it on
Forums?

Or we could have a secret spot in the bush near the boom gate.

Yes Kazz, I was going to suggest that, but thought it might get shot down in terms of accountability.
I've been using keys hidden under certain rocks for years to get into places behind forestry gates, oh hang on, no I haven't!

The keys have been signed out against Windsurfing Tasmania, they were meant to be held by those on the committee and used to access the area for WT use. This does include group sailing days like the other day that was not a WT event. Saying that, it was always the expectation the keys were to be available to members of WT to access the area(such as Anthony has offered to Will).
It is highly unacceptable to locate the available key in an area accessible to the general public. All keys need to be accounted for at all times and not just there to be grabbed by anyone. If a key is to be left at a private location for members to access then it must be signed out and back in by the person taking it as mentioned by FOS. Cheers

That sounds great. Let me know where you have the key and sign in sheet fos. The only thing is that the person with the key won't be able to lock the gate when they're in there as others coming after them won't be able to get in!

Agreed the key needs to be easily accessible to all members.
Fos place is a good suggestion, a key in a spot we can all find easily with a notebook and pencil for the borrowers name, time and phone no
is the go. The person borrowing would need to leave the gate unlocked and closed (so it looks locked)until they are finished in case anyone else wants to get in.
And make sure they put the key back
