Steve and I are planning on sailing off Sandy Bay this afternoon. Probably head upwind for an hour or so and then try for a 1hr on the way back. Hope to make it out past the Iron Pot before we turn around. We'll be there around 2PM if anyone is keen to join us!!

Wind is meant to slowly freshen form the south all day.

Dave did you get much wind on the river
We sailed on the pond, heaps of people and sun, not a lot of wind
The start boards are getting a fair bit of use, all 3 used frequently, great to see.
Alex and Victoria have one, Erin just taken over one from Clare and I've seen Paul Davis out a few times.
You can see the orange sails a mile away.

Anyone get a sail up north

Steve and I went out in what looked like a good breeze. Stew and Bear and quite a few others were already out. Steve and I headed straight up wind, but the wind just kept getting lighter until we couldn't even plane. Then we had to dog all the way back to Sandy Bay. Should have just blasted around off the point as that looked as though it had the best of the wind.

Strange wind as the closer to South Arm we got the more it split into two different directions (SE from Mortimer and S from Storm Bay). Horrible chop in the middle with much lighter winds, so we had to try to work our way up one side of the River (chose the Eastern shore).

Was in Hobart over the last 3 days. I was only over as a tourist, accompanied my son as he is now attending UTAS and we were just rubber necking.

Checked out several beaches around Sandy Bay and then Monday morning had a squizz at Clifton Beach and 7-Mile. By the time we got to 7-Mile it appeared the wind was picking up and around 12-15knots onshore. Looked like a great place to have a blast with a big rig. Desperately was hoping to spot someone sailing but alas no-one.

You've got some nice waterways down there. Real purdy looking too.

BTW, anyone teach windsurfing around Hobart and close proximity to the Uni? I only just started teaching the young fella and he liked it. Could be an interest for him.

Hello
If you had travelled another 7km from seven mile to cremorne lagoon you would have found 10-15 desperate windsurfers waiting for wind.
No one actively teaches windsurfing down here but we do have the occassional learner day. Better to catch up on a good day and borrow one of our ( Windsurfing tas),learner boards and get going in 20-30 minutes!.
A few basic lessons and away you go.
cheers Damien
