Anyone thinking of coming to Marrawah in Jan for the fun week in the waves 8th - 16th have a choice of camping at Greens Beach, Arthur River or Sundowner. Greens is usually the most popular as it's close to the action, shop and the pub.
Those of you not too keen on roughing it have a choice of quite a few different styles of acommodation from pretty rough to 4 star. Google 'Marrawah acommodation' you'll find most of the houses and shacks available. I suggest if you're interested in acommodation book early as you'll miss out. Prue and I have booked the Beach Cottage at Greens and Rob Lakin & Jane have booked one of the Ann Bay Cabins.
Should be a fun week, Marrawah has never let us down. Don't be daunted by the waves, as you can see from some of the photos posted recently anyone can have a crack at this so long as you can water-start, if you're not that good at jibing it doesn't matter. If the waves are too big it is a 45 min drive to Stanley for smaller waves and flat water, so there's really something for every level of sailor.
Well for my 2 days laboring up here in the north, I've picked up a chem toilet, a new tent and some other camping bits and pieces. So we are all go for marrawah.
Just one little thing is the beer fridge, still working on that one. I used to have an old gas fridge, but it's gone now
2 things, Where did the SWMBO come from that Rumpole used ?
Are there showers int he toilet block, or do i need to bring my own ?
Also I have just updated the events for seabreeze so when Laurie approves them they will appear in the right hand pane int he forums list (events on the right).
I was going to join you camping at Marrawah but my brother is coming down from QLD for a holiday and we will be going around with him. Good news is that we may be over that way so keep an eye out for a blue rodeo ute. Will be good to catch up.
I got this made a sticky until end of feb so we can keep track of what's happening. Looks like I'll get there for the Sunday. I hope all the good camp sites aren't gone.
Hey guys, I have never been to Marrawah and pretty keen to come over for the week. Is there usually plenty of availability at the camp site for a late booking?
Good opportunity to sail with some folks that know the ins and outs of the spot.
Stuey, great to see you down here, there's a few other guys coming over from Vic so should be fun time. Don't have to book or pay for camp site, just rock up and pick a spot, pretty basic but has got shelter hut with bbq, toilet bolck also.
Will be there Sat and Sunday..cant get the rest of the week off but hopefully there will be some wind on at least one of the days. Will be camping at Greens and probably drive over on Friday night after work.
Starting to look really good for Marawah. NE Friday and saturday with very little to no swell but really windy. I recon I'll be sailing at Stanley before heading onto Marawah Sat arvo, or heading straight to Nettleys to try it out as a speed spot! Sunday Arvo onwards wind turns more to the south and should be real good at Nettleys if the pattern continues the way it is
Dave, when it blows NE at Marrawah the swell is non existent normally. If you look at the swell direction it's from the NE(coming from the land). Then Sunday the swell builds after the wind swings back to the S.
But Dont get too excited the Forecast has gone to crap!!
