If the forecast stays good I'm thinking of taking Monday off and spending the day at Marion Bay for a long sail.

I haven't sailed there before and was wondering if the bay South of the cemetery is any good (the bay just around the corner)? It seems to offer longer runs (particularly on a low tide and Monday has a very low tide (0.2m at 4pm). On that note, at what tide level is the cemetery sailable (I don't mind a bit of a walk out)?

The consensus among the various weather models we now have access to seems to be NNE-NE 12-20knots... fingers crossed!

just nth (right next to the cemetery) there is a rigging area and parking bay that is used.

it is very low water all the way though, so Low tide can be a bugger.
I was looking at Sunday arvo as a maybe, but the low tide was turning me off.

I'm heading to Marion Bay Monday (23rd), planning to get there mid-morning. Sounds like the afternoon should be great. Hopefully there'll be somewhere to play during the low tide in the late arvo.

Klaas you should be OK on a low tide with a small fin, there's a bit of a walk but not too bad

0.02 is Fu$#in low! Def a small fin required for late arvo sailing, I wouldnt run anything more than a 28cm and i would still be very carefull.

Sorry fellas you've all got it wrong. Georges Bay is just perfect with these conditions. There's plenty of water under the board but watch out for the rock fish. Andy caught one the last time he sailed here. Just have to be a little careful where you go near the shore.

Goats is windy again(more than yesterday). Much smaller swell today, very tame conditions and you can always just sail out the back.

I'll be down for a look. Tame conditions sound good to me, still pretty tired from yesterdays monster session.

Thanks for all the advice!

Marion bay was a blast, nice consistent wind (NE) just about 5knots too much for my smallest sail (5.3m) so a bit of survival mode.

The low tide was fine (I sailed through it), about 50m walking to get back to the car. There's about a half mile run from waist deep water back to waist deep water with markers/landmarks either end so you can pick it quite well.
