Slowly building some live weather stations on the Tamar.
We now have 3 LIVE stations!
Riverside - www.wunderground.com/?cm_ven=cgi
Rosevears - www.wunderground.com/?cm_ven=cgi
Deviot - www.wunderground.com/?cm_ven=cgi

Stations are set to RapidFire update - so every few seconds live wind is uploaded.

Free iPhone app: PWS Monitor
Free Android app: Wind Undergound
When prompted use the station ID: ITASMANI68, 80 or 93

Access is full public and free.

Access is also Awesome!

We often only have seabreezes at rosevears for 1-2 hours so waiting half hour for bom to update was no good. Even whan it updated the reading from Launceston was way off what Rosevears was doing...

Updates every 5 minutes on site.... doesnt get much better.

Good job Johnny, and thanks Geoff for the prime location

Nice work Johnny, opening up the bottom end of the Tamar is good news so people can slip down for a quick sail after work.

We need to get one set up at Lauderdale that will pick up Dorans and the Pond........................... Damo where are you, do you still need me to climb that tree in your backyard??

Original post updated with the latest station now online.

Thanks guys. These 3 will be perfect for seabreeze alerts for the locals.
There are many who sail the Lower Tamar who don't GPS, so these will reach quite a few people, and hopefully a few new people

Tidy effort Johnny, do you reckon we could talk MAST into parking one of these atop the channel pylon off Lagoon Bay ? I go out there every now and then to sniff and do business, but not frequently enough to do real time updates., This location would give all direction accuracy, particularly that elusive and fickle easterly quadrant. Failing that, the top of my kennel is an option, but no good for aforementioned direction.
Woof.

Hey Goondog - not sure how much coin you've got under your blanket, but we would need a costly one that was corrosion proof for out there... leave that red pylon for the sniffing/leg cocking only buddy.

We might have to get your Kennel up and running though! I know you're a sicko, so no doubt there's wifi in the kennel for your 'web research'

EDIT: Might be of interest to some of you the new BOM WOW affiliation with UK Met Office.
Low Head for example is updated *not sure how often - site is unclear* : bom-wow.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/view?siteID=414616054
Looking at this info - it suggests the weather station is in a different location - Goondog? Next walkies time it could provide a new relief spot to back up to?

You young kids must be stoked to have this sort of techno happinin! I remember back in the good ol days when we used to have a look out side to see what the weather was doing. Its a good thing we have that small black box with an LED on it to tell us what we can do in our life. God bless the internet for making our lives more functional and the elements more accessible.
