Ant,
I will bring the Start Boards I have to the event.
Dorans road looks the location at this stage, looking at the forecast.
My mobile is 0408718847
Nathan I think you're right the forecast for Sauraday looks good for Dorans with winds from the west and an odd shower or two.
Could be ideal for the learner day![]()
Remember if you're coming to the learner day bring your wetsuit, wet suit boots or runners that you can use in the water and a life jacket.
Forecast looks good so we'll most likely hold it at Dorans Rd Lauderdale. We'll keep you posted.
The event won't be as big as last year as we haven't got access to as many boards but there should be about 6 or 7 to share around.
We'll start at 12 noon and probably run it to around 4pm.
Should be a bit of fun.![]()

Forecast for saturday:
North to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots shifting southwesterly 20 to 30 knots during the morning.
Min 11 Max 19
Partly cloudy. Scattered showers from late morning clearing during the afternoon
Cool
Other things cancelled so
I'll be there
and can rig my 152L board with a 5.2m sail for newbies to have a go.
Haven't sailed since January, in that time that bloody Jez has gone from beginner to faster than me, not that speed matters of course ![]()
Still looks like Doran's is the go for the learner day on saturday
We've now got 8-9 boards all up which is great:
5 Learner Boards and an assortment of others from 110L - 160L which will be higher performance.
Any sailors who have a board & rig of any size that they would lend out for the day would be appreciated.
Also anyone that can help out for 5 mins or the whole afternoon with anything from cooking snags to helping learners on the water will be greatly appreciated.
With the forecast predicted it could be exciting![]()

...please everyone bring a life jacket, wetsuit, booties or runners
Doran's Rd is about 2 km past Lauderdale on the right.
When you drive through Lauderdale look over the bay to the right and you'll see the tent and cars on the grass near the jetty
I've got some old wave boards that can be used but they're probably a little too sinky for beginners.
Dont forget we will have snags and cold drinks for sale.- BBQ cookoff runs from 12 till out of snag time.
I will bring a 5.3 wave sail, mast, boom and base that can be used for the day. Be the first time I've rigged it ![]()
can't wait to ride tomorrow, will be there around 11am I guess. I'll bring a mate so he can learn a bit, but with the wind forecast, should be too strong I guess.
Yep, what a great sight with all the boards out being used and so many people down at Doran's. Well done Ant, Damo, Brett (and your partner) and everyone else who cooked food, rigged boards and taught people today. The sausage sizzle was sensational!!! Just as well you got that Gazebo, Damo - it was excellent!!
Very enjoyable day and well organised. The kids had heaps of fun and the conditions varied giving everyone a go. Had fun sailing my daughter around on the Start until I fell on top of her and took her under which she still hasn't forgiven me for but she's still keen to give it a go. My son had a good go on the Fanatic and had some planing runs for the first time. Dorans is a great place to sail
