I got a good 2 hours in at Moorelands between 1 and 3. Would have been nice to have an extra couple of Knots but there was just enough for the 6.2. Some nice ramps and some good wave riding back to the beach. Pretty much wished I had known and sailed at this spot for the past year... Hope you all got out in some wind.
I am keen to try this spot, can you give me some more info such as what wind direction and tides are best?
may try to have a sail there on Sat.
Cheers
James
Hey Jimmy,
Look at the Picture information above from Askoarras this is the location. You can't miss it when you drive down this way.
The actual location is right next to the Devonport airport. If coming from the highway head towards the airport and continue straight on until you see a turn off opposite a ?paper mill? to Pardoe recreation reserve or something similar. It is a gravel very straight bit of road. The end of this is what the picture is describing (Moorland beach road) The wind direction is best in a NW, up to a WNW. Too much West will eventually make it offshore and a little bit too hairy. I have only sailed there once but follow this link to a previous discussion about the location. From what I have sailed, Super low tide was fine, and I can imagine high tide would be good too.
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Tasmania/Turners-BeachFourth-river-mouth/Would be happy to meet you there anytime except this weekend, by the forecast I would guess that this arvo and tomorrow would be best but the weekend will have too much southerly in it, I'm going to see if I can knock off early today for a bit of a bash!!
